Biography
2017-18: Spring: Part of the NM State team that won its third WAC Tournament title in four years and fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history…finished his first season in the Crimson & White 7-3 overall in singles and 3-4 in doubles play as a reserve...sat out during the dual season. Fall: Picked up his first Division I win after taking down Theodor Preiswerk of Arizona Christian 6-2, 6-1 and followed up with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the semifinals of his singles flight at the Aggie Invitational (9/15-17)…won his singles flight at the Wildcat Invitational (9/22-24) with victories over opponent from Northern Arizona, Abilene Christian and Fresno State…opened the Lobo Invitational (9/29-10/1) with victories over NAU’s Justin Bac and Air Force’s Austin Gula…recorded his first Division I doubles win with Louis Menard against NAU’s Bac and Harun Ajanovic 6-2 before wrapping up the Lobo Invitational with a 6-4 win against Denver’s duo.
2015-16 (Cumberland): Spring: Finished his first year in the collegiate ranks with 10 wins, five of which coming in the dual season…also recorded 10 wins in doubles action all year, seven of which came in the dual season…recorded his first collegiate dual win against Jualon Greig of Arkansas Pine Bluff (2/5) 6-3, 6-0…grabbed back-to-back wins in April with wins over Martin Methodist (4/4) and Georgetown College (4/8). Fall: Opened his collegiate career with three-straight victories…first singles victory came against Alfredo Bencid of Campbellsville (9/12) and followed with another win over a Campbellsville (9/13) player…advanced to the round of 32 at the ITA Southeast Regionals with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Pikeville’s (9/24) Fabian Fahrtman…picked up another pair of wins at the Grizzly Open (10/16) before finishing the fall season with a 5-2 mark.
2016-17 (Cumberland): Spring: Saw action in 11 matches this past spring, moving between the No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 singles position…picked up his first dual win of the year against Bellarmine’s (3/18) Alex Swords 6-1, 6-0...recorded back-to-back singles victories in the second week of play in April…tallied six wins between three different doubles teammates in the spring. Fall: Split the lone two matches he played in at the ITA Southeast Regionals in singles.
Before NM State: Played in several junior events throughout Spain…picked up his first victory at the Calvia Open U14 against Nuno Borges 5-7, 6-2, 6-1…advanced to the quarterfinals at the Calvia Open once again in 2011…played in the quarterfinals of the Tennis Europe Junior Tour Barcelona in 2012.
Personal: Son of Alejandro Rosas Garcia...has an older sister, Alba, who is a senior on the NJIT women's tennis team...also has a twin brother, Alberto, and younger sister, Andrea...majoring in mathematics.
