Biography

 

Junior (2009-10): Surreaux ended the season with the most overall wins for the team with 22.  Surreaux went 15-4 during dual matches and went 7-4 for tournament play.  Surreaux played most of the season in the number three spot, going 11-2 in the position.  Surreaux played with various teammates in doubles over the course of the season, but had the best success while playing with Matej Stakne, going 6-2 together.  Surreaux went 4-2 against opponents from ranked teams last season, with wins over Arizona (No. 23), Hawaii (No. 42), UNM (No. 53), and Texas A&M-CC (No. 58).  Surreaux had a seven-singles match winning streak that lasted from Oct. 23-Feb. 12.  Surreaux had an even greater winning streak later in the season.  Surreaux won nine consecutive singles matches, spanning from Feb. 20- Mar. 26.  Only one loss separated the two streaks, giving Surreaux a record of 16-1 from Oct. 23-Mar. 26.    

Sophomore (2009): Surreaux joined the Aggies in the spring of 2009 and went on to tie for the team lead with his 14 singles victories. He won 11 of his first 12 singles matches to start the season and had a seven-match winning streak that was the second longest on the team. Surreaux posted a 10-5 record at the fourth singles position and was 4-3 at No. 3. His .636 singles winning percentage in the spring was the second high­est on the team and he tied for the fewest losses of anyone who played at least 15 matches. Surreaux won five matches against opponents from ranked teams and that included wins over top 30 teams Arizona (No. 17) and Texas Tech (No. 29). In doubles play, Surreaux went 3-2 with Stefan McKinney, but he played mainly with Jim Brouleau, compiling a 10-8 record together. They played 16 of their 18 matches at the second position, where they went 9-7 together and the other two matches were played at No. 1 and No. 3.

Prior to NM State: Surreaux came to NM State with a French -4/6 ranking. He reached the quarterfinals at Nationals and played at Le Havre. He won several national tournaments before joining the Aggies.

Personal: Surreaux is the son of Elizabeth and Pascal Surreaux and was born in Houston, Texas. He is majoring in indi­vidualized studies.
