Junior (2008-09): He was named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America
second team, becoming the first academic all-American in program history and
the 37th in the history of NM State athletics. This came after he
was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI first team for the
second consecutive season. Diep's 14 singles victories in the spring dual match
season tied for the team lead. He went 5-4 at the No. 2 position, 8-5 at No. 3
and was 1-0 at the fourth spot. Diep won his first nine singles matches in
2009, which doubled as the longest winning streak from anyone on the team. He
had a 6-3 record in three-set matches and won his No. 3 singles match in the
2009 WAC Championships to help the Aggies defeat Nevada and reach the
semifinals for the third time in the last four years. Combining the fall
tournament season with the spring, Diep posted a 20-13 singles record and he
was just one of two Aggies to win 20 or more singles matches in 2008-09. In

biggest singles victories on the season came over opponents from Utah and
Sacramento State, as both of them were ranked nationally at one point during
the season. In doubles play, Diep went 7-3 with Brouleau, 4-5 with Alejandro de

19-12 singles record and a 19-13 doubles mark.

freshman. Diep was named the Mountain Region Rookie of the Year by the ITA
(Intercollegiate Tennis Association) and was a Second Team All-WAC selection.
He went 2-1 against WAC opponents on the year and he had a five-match winning
streak from March 4 through March 30. After missing the first three matches of
the spring because of an ankle injury, Diep opened the season by winning nine
out of his first 10 matches and that included the five consecutive matches he
won in March. Diep's biggest victory of the season came on March 2 when he
defeated UNM's Max Jones (6-3, 3-6, 10-7), who had been ranked as high as No.
