Junior (2009-10): Brouleau received many honors during his junior
year. Brouleau was named to the
2010 Second Team All-WAC for singles and doubles, to the 2010 Academic All-WAC,
and a 2010 ITA Scholar-Athlete. At
the start of dual play in January, Brouleau was ranked No. 56 in the nation
(Jan. 5). Brouleau played in the
top position for NM State during the 2009-10 season, finishing with an overall
record of 17-12. Brouleau finished
the fall tour campaign with a spectacular record of 10-3. Brouleau started off 2009 with a hot
September, going 4-1 during the month.
Brouleau's best streak of the season was the end of the fall session,
which carried over into the spring.
From Oct. 23, 2009-Jan. 24, 2010, Brouleau went 6-0. Brouleau concluded the season with two
victories against ranked schools (No. 58 Texas A&M-CC on Jan 24 and No. 30
Fresno State on Apr 18). Brouleau
played doubles with fellow junior Arthur Surreaux during Fall 2009 tour
play. Brouleau and Surreaux won
their first three matches together, and ended 5-4 overall. Brouleau played all of the spring 2010
season with Orlando Superlano.
Together, Brouleau and Superlano went 11-8, playing mostly in the No. 1
doubles position. Brouleau and
Superlano won all five matches they played together at the No. 2 doubles
spot. Their best streak together
lasted from Feb. 13-27, where they went 5-0 together.
Sophomore (2008-09): On May 12, 2009, Brouleau received the 2009 ITA
Mountain Region Player to Watch award, which is given out to a player who has
had an outstanding season and is expected to perform at a high level the rest
of his career. Brouleau was named to the second team All-WAC in singles after
going 13-10 in 2009. He was named the WAC Player of the Week for the second
time in his career after going 3-0 in the week of Jan. 26 through Feb. 1.
Coming in straight sets were 11 of his 13 wins, as he went 10-9 at the top
singles position and was 3-1 at No. 2. Brouleau faced seven ranked opponents
on the year and came up with one victory. That was on Feb. 19 over 82nd-ranked
Corey Smith of Montana State. He started the dual match season by winning eight
of his first nine matches and he won five straight from Feb. 8-21. Combining
the fall and spring seasons, Brouleau won a team-high 25 singles matches. He
went 12-3 in fall tournament action. He won one match in the 2008 D'Nova
All-American Championships and advanced to the B draw title match at that same
tournament. He and teammate Gustave Diep won the B doubles draw championship
at the Baylor Intercollegiates. Brouleau's overall doubles record in 2008-09
was 20-15. In the spring, he competed mostly with Arthur Surreaux and the two
went 10-8 together. They were 1-0 at the top position, 9-7 at No. 2 and 0-1 at
No. 3. Brouleau was also 2-2 with Gustave Diep, 0-1 with Guy Rutten and 1-0
with Matej Stakne. Brouleau and Diep were ranked No. 11 in the Mountain Region,
Jan. 6, and he was ranked No. 16 regionally in singles. For the second straight
season, he was named to the Academic All-WAC team for his success in the classroom.
Freshman (2007-08): Brouleau put together one of the finest freshman
seasons ever by an Aggie. Combining the fall and spring seasons, he led the
team in both singles and doubles victories, as he had a 26-12 singles record
and a 23-12 doubles mark. Brouleau was named the WAC's Player of the Week for
the week of April 7-13, when he won all three of his No. 3 singles matches and
all three of his doubles matches. He tied for the team lead in singles
victories in the spring, as he went 12-7. He was 0-2 at No. 2 and 12-5 at No.
3. Brouleau had a tremendous end to his 2008 season, as he won his final six
singles matches and 10 of his last 12. In the 2008 WAC Championships, Brouleau
won his only singles match, a 6-3, 6-4 win over Nevada's Alex Daruty in the quarterfinals
and he and Diep won both of their doubles matches in the conference
championships. In spring doubles play, Brouleau went 1-0 with Alejandro de
Mucha, 7-3 with Diep and 4-5 with Jeff Pfeifer. At the start of the spring dual
match season, Brouleau and Diep were ranked No. 10 by the ITA in the Mountain
Region. Brouleau was named to the 2007-08 Academic All-WAC Freshman and
Transfer team list.
Prior to NM State: Brouleau had a top 10 junior ranking in France prior
to his arrival at NM State. He won the pre-qualifying La Baule Tournament,
which allowed him to play in a tournament at the Tennis Club Plaisir, the Nike
Junior Tour and to represent France. He played in many international
tournaments including the Derby Cadets, le Pontet, la Balle Mimosa, les Petits
As and the N1B Championnat d'equipe Nationale. Brouleau played in both singles
and doubles at two French Championships was a finalist in several league
championships.
Personal: Brouleau is the
son of Marie-Laure and Jacques Brouleau.
