Ramirez enters his second year on the coaching side of the racket. He was part of a 2013-14 coaching staff that saw the Aggies make the championship match of the WAC Tournament as also saw two singles' players and two doubles' teams honored on the All-WAC list.
As an Aggie standout for four years, Ramirez began competing with New Mexico State in the spring of 2010. He finished his senior season with an 11-4 doubles record with partner Marc Westgate and was 6-6 in singles play during the spring. Ramirez had two wins over ranked opponents in singles play while at New Mexico State and helped the Aggies to win 11 dual matches against ranked opponents in his four years. Ramirez helped NM State to the WAC Championship match as a sophomore and was named to the All-WAC second team as a junior. After playing for the Aggies Ramirez started playing Professional tennis in the ATP tour and is ranked at the moment 1120 in singles and 590 in doubles (highest ever for an Aggie).
During his 2011-2012 junior season, Ramirez posted a record of 12-10 in singles competition and was one of two Aggies that had double-digit wins on the season. Ramirez had a three-match win streak on two separate occasions on the season, in February, and again in April. In doubles competition, Ramirez started the season teamed with Matej Stakne and they finished with a 6-6 record. In the latter part of the season, Ramirez teamed with Marc Westgate and the pair finished with a 5-3 record including a 1-1 mark in WAC play. Ramirez was the Aggies’ team captain during his junior season and was named second team All-WAC in doubles.
Ramirez recorded an 18-6 singles record in his sophomore year at NM State, one of six Aggies with double-digit wins, to help the Aggies advance to the WAC championship match. He posted a 16-5 record at the No. 5 singles spot. Ramirez was 12-2 in two-set matches on the year and posted a eight-match win streak to end the regular season. He also was successful in doubles action with two partners. Ramirez began the year with Orlando Superlano, finishing with a 10-7 record. The final four matches of the regular season, Ramirez partnered with Marc Westgate resulting in a 2-2 record.
Ramirez played only the spring 2010 season during his freshman year, but his limited tenure gave great benefit to NM State. Ramirez went 12-3 during dual-match play, and went 5-1 against conference opponents, which was the best conference record of the team. Ramirez played in the No. 5 spot, going 3-1 and played in the No. 6 spot, going 9-2. Ramirez finished the season strong, going undefeated with a record of 4-0. Ramirez played doubles with former senior Gustave Diep, going 6-3 together. Ramirez played with Arthur Surreaux to begin the season, going 1-1 together. Ramirez’s greatest doubles performance came with partner Craig Duran, when they defeated their doubles opponent from No. 30 Fresno State on Apr 18.
Before joining the NM State team, Ramirez had an International Tennis Federation ranking of 311 in 2008, where he was also the No. 3-ranked junior player in all of Venezuela and the top-ranked player in the state of Miranda. In 2005, Ramirez was also ranked No. 3 in Venezuela and was a three-time Venezuelan Player of the Year from 2000-02. He was the singles master champion in 2000 and the Five Super Series Champion in 2003.
Ramirez was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and is the son of Antonio and Maria Isabel. He earned his bachelor's degree in marketing from NM State.
