2019-20 (Senior) | Season shortened due to COVID-19 pandemic
  • Named ITA Mountain Region Most Improved Senior
  • Named WAC Singles Player of the Week on Jan. 28
  • Generated a 6-5 record in singles play through the Aggies' fall portion of the year
  • Joined forces with Timothee Curnier and produced a 6-4 doubles record in the fall
  • Racked up the most singles wins on the team (seven) through the spring portion of the Aggies' season, going 7-4 overall
  • Also amassed seven doubles wins - the most on the team - through the spring part of the season
  • Went 7-6 in doubles action overall in the spring
2018-19: Spring: Finished his first full season with NM State 17-11 overall in singles and 13-7 in dual action with a 4-1 mark in conference play...was 16-8 overall in doubles and 10-7 in dual action with a 4-1 mark in league play…teamed up with Luis Flores to earn Second-Team All-WAC honors in doubles play…won his first dual match as an Aggie with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Niko Barr of Western New Mexico (1/27) and tallied his first doubles win against Mesa CC (1/26) with Flores…took down UT Arlington’s (3/3) Sansidh Kommaraju 6-3, 7-5…reeled off six-straight wins starting in late March that spanned into April…also tallied five-straight doubles victories during the same stretch…finished the season going 8-2 in his final 10 matches of the season in singles action. Fall: Went 4-4 during the fall in singles and 3-2 in doubles in his first semester with the Aggies…recorded a 6-2, 6-3 win over Abilene Christian’s (9/14) Michael Benavides in his first match in the Crimson & White…picked up his first of three-straight doubles wins with Alejandro Rosas Garcia at home…also took down Arizona’s (9/15) doubles team 7-6 with Rosas Garcia…defeated Boise State’s (9/21) Simon Stenlund in the round of 16 at the Arizona Invitational…picked up a win over Arizona’s (9/23) Conner Olsen to wrap up the fall season.

2017-18 (MTSU): Finished the season 13-6 overall and 5-0 in dual action before transferring to New Mexico State…saw action at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 5 positions during dual action...went 11-8 overall in doubles with a 5-1 mark in dual play – all on court No. 3…Advanced to the Round of 64 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional with a win over Carlos Tajes of Tennessee Tech, 6-2, 6-3…opened season with 6-2, 6-2 over Chattanooga's (1/15) Luke Plastaid…took down UTSA's (1/28) Igor Cantanhede 6-4, 6-1 in MTSU's defeat of the Roadrunners…clinched doubles point with teammate Max Rauch with 6-2 win against Rice (2/28).
 
2016-17 (MTSU): Played limited matches as a freshman for MTSU, going 2-5 in dual action and 1-0 in CUSA play…went 7-11 in doubles play with teammate Max Rauch between the No. 2 and No. 3 slots...picked up his first-career collegiate victory against Paul LaHue of Chattanooga (9/23)…recorded his first collegiate dual win against Jarib Beazer from Alabama A&M (1/28) 6-1, 6-1.
 
Prior to NM State: Attended Laurel Springs in Port St. Lucie, Fla….reached a national ranking of No. 18 in January of 2013 back in Colombia…played in several ITF Pro Tournaments in 2016 and reached the ITF Junior Copa Liga de Tenis de Boy finals.
 
Personal: Son of Julio Buitrago and Maria Machado…has a younger brother, Alejandro…majoring in finance.
