Biography

Redshirt Sophomore (2013-14): Denele went 9-10 in singles play during the spring of 2014. He was 5-5 at the No. 2 spot and finished the regular season with a three-match winning streak that included a conference win over Grand Canyon’s Adrian Legarreta in three sets. He won his first match of the season against former WAC opponent Utah State 6-1, 6-5 in the first weekend of the season. Denele was 12-8 in doubles play while picking up six wins with Naveen Manivannan and six with Patrick Pfister. He saw two three-match win streaks on the season with Pfister. The duo won three on the road in mid-March and concluded the regular season with three wins at the Aggie Tennis Center. The sophomore and Manivannan also won three straight in February including two wins over WAC opponents Idaho and Kansas City at the No. 2 spot. Denele and Pfister earned second team All-WAC for their work on the doubles court.

Redshirt Freshman (2012-13): Finishing his freshman campaign with a 13-5 singles record during spring play, Denele worked to a 4-1 WAC record and held a five-match winning streak during the month of March. He competed at the No. 5 spot and came up with a 9-5 record while finishing with a perfect 4-0 record at court four. Early in the season, Denele worked for a two-set win (6-1, 6-0) over No. 49 Kaimalu Cope of fourth-ranked Scottsdale Community College. He won his match against No. 72 and in-state rival New Mexico and helped NM State advance to the quarterfinals of the 2013 WAC Championships with a 4-2 win over Utah State by claiming a two-game victory at court No. 5.  Denele teamed up with Daniel Fernandez in doubles for a 4-1 record at the No. 3 spot and worked for a 7-3 record overall in partner play. He played two matches at the top spot with senior Luis Ramirez during conference play and came up with an 8-5 win over Utah State, but fell in a tight 9-8 (7) match versus No. 58 Denver. He also split two matches at the second court with junior Marc Westgate.

Freshman (2011-12): Denele redshirted his first year at NM State.

Prior to NM State:  Denéle played on the junior circuit with the ISP Tennis Academy from 2007-10. He played with the Sceaux team since the age of 12.

Personal:  Denéle is from Lille, France, and is the son of Fabrice and Christine Denéle.  He is majoring in International Business at NM State.
