Korn was named the NM State women’s indoor and outdoor track & field programs throwing coach ahead of the 2021-2022 season, as part of Head Coach Joseph Rath’s inaugural staff.
In the 2022 Indoor Track season, the Aggie throws group put together some of the best performances in the conference with four student-athletes posting top-20 marks. Kaitlyn Ward posted the 17th best mark in the weight throw, recording a toss of 14.85m at the 2022 WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Makiya Moore recorded a mark of 17.31m at the 2022 WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, good for fourth in the conference while Emily Hernandez posted a 17.65m toss at the New Mexico Classic, good for third in the WAC. Freshman Phetisang Makhethe topped the conference in the weight throw, her toss of 19.39m at the 2022 WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships earned her a gold medal, while placing her second in NM State history behind Yemisi Oroyinyin (20.16).
In the shot put, the Aggies again found themselves among the top of the conference, fielding two top-20 performers. Rebecca Green posted a mark of 14.23m at the Dr. MLK Jr. Invitational gave her the sixth best result in the WAC. Emily Hernandez’s 12.09m throw at the New Mexico Team Open was good for 18th.
Prior to the Aggies, Coach Korn was an assistant on Eastern Michigan’s men’s track & field teams. Korn oversaw and developed 11 NCAA regional qualifiers and four qualifiers for the 2021 NCAA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2021.
Before calling Ypsilanti, Michigan home for four seasons, Korn worked from 2014-2017 as an assistant coach for the track & field programs at Jacksonville State, helping the student-athletes break a total of 20 school records and record 23 medals at the conference championships.
To start his coaching career, Korn was named the strength coach for NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist’s track & field program from 2012-2014. Under Korn’s guidance, eight school records were broken while also sending one athlete to the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships.
