2012 Outdoor
(Junior): Thompson competed in the 400m, 800m and 1,500m for the Aggies in
the 2012 outdoor season. This was the
first year Thompson competed in the 400m, posting her season-best time of
1:00.71 at the New Mexico Tailwind Invitational (April 6). Thompson posted her best 800m time of 2:18.31
at the 2012 Willie Williams Classic (March 16) and her best time of 4:48.77 in
the 1,500m at the 2012 Willie Williams Classic as well. Thompson also competed in the 4x400m relay
throughout the season.
2012 Indoor (Junior): Thompson
spent most of her 2012 indoor season running the 800m and the 1-mile for the
Aggies. Thompson posted her best time in
the 800m at the New Mexico Collegiate Invitational (Jan. 27) when she posted a
time of 2:20.22. Thompson posted her
season-best time of 5:17.84 in the 1-mile at the WAC Indoor Championships (Feb.
23). Thompson also ran the 4x400m for NM
State throughout the season, helping her squad post a season-best time of
3:50.43 at the New Mexico Collegiate Invitational. Thompson also participated in the 4,000m
distance medley, helping her team post a time of 12:24.14 at the New Mexico
Collegiate Classic (Feb. 3), which is good for third all-time in the NM State
record books.
Cross Country 2011 (Junior): Thompson
wrapped up her 2011 season by running in four events for the Aggies. Thompson posted her best time at the Kachina
Classic (Sept. 17) with a time of 19:49.3.
Thompson posted her best team finish at the Grand Canyon Invitational
(Oct. 8) when she finished sixth overall.
Thompson also ran in the Lobo Invitational (Sept. 3) and the Lori
Fitzgerald Invitational (Sept. 10).
Outdoor 2011 (Sophomore): Thompson
partook in a full slate of events in the 2011 outdoor track season. Two
of Thompson's top times came at the WAC Championships, posting her best time of
2:13.44 in the 800m and 3:45.21 in the 4x400m relay. Thompson also ran
the 1,500m, posting her best time of 4:40.01 at the Sun Angel Track Classic.
Indoor 2011 (Sophomore): Thompson
ran a variety of middle distance events during the indoor track season in
2011. Thompson ran the one-mile for a majority of the season, posting her
best time of 5:00.72 at the Washington Husky Classic. Thompson ran her
best 800m at the New Mexico Cherry and Silver Invitational with a time of
2:21.10. Thompson also ran the 4,000m medley, posting her season-best
time of 12:28.33 at the New Mexico Collegiate and Classic Combined.
Cross Country 2010 (Sophomore): Thompson
started off the season by running the Lobo Classic in a time of 19:07.1, good
for 27th overall and fifth for NM State. Thompson followed up at the
Kachina Classic with a time of 18:37.7 for 11th overall and third for NM State.
At the WAC Championships, Thompson placed 35th overall and fifth for NM State
with a time of 18:55.22.
Outdoor 2010 (Freshman): Thompson
earned her spot on fifth all-time in the NM State record books in the 800m for
her time of 2:13.71 at the UTEP Invitational. Thompson also ran the
1,500m in 4:30.61 at the Long Beach Invitational, which was good enough
for second on the Aggie record list.
Indoor 2010 (Freshman): Thompson
garnered first team All-WAC honors after her performance at the WAC Championships
one mile run. Thompson finished with a time of 5:03.89, which also put
her first on the NM State all-time list. Thompson also broke into the
Aggie record books in the 800m after finishing in a time of 2:15.29 at the
Southwest Classic Invite, good enough for second all-time at NM State and
second team All-WAC honors. Thompson also competed in the 4x400 relay
where her foursome's best finish was also at the Southwest Classic Invite where
they finished with a time of 4:08.88.
Cross Country 2009 (Freshman): Thompson
ran in five races last season for the Aggies. Her best finish came at the
Lori Fitzgerald Invitational where she finished 11th overall. Thompson's
fastest 5K time came at the Cowboy Jamboree where she finished in a time of
19:12.
High School: Thompson
ran cross country and track and field for Sierra High School in Colorado
Springs, Colo. Thompson was a four-year letter winner in both sports and also
lettered in swimming while in high school. She is the current state record
holder and state champion in Colorado in the 800 meters with a time of 2:10.12.
In 2008, she was the Junior Olympic National Champion in the 1,500 meters,
running a time of 4:41. In 2009, she won the prestigious Kansas Relays
800-meter run with a time of 2:13.37. Also as a senior, she was third in the
Colorado state meet in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:56.56.
Personal: Thompson
is the daughter of Janet and Patrick Thompson. Her major is family and consumer
science.
