Camilla Carrera

Camilla Carrera enters her second year as a graduate assistant with the NM State softball program.

During her first season with the Aggies, Carrera assisted in the team's 33-22 overall record that included wins over Power-5 powerhouses Cal, North Carolina and then-ranked No. 17 Texas Tech. The Aggies closed out the season second in WAC play with a 12-6 record against league opponents and also finished as the runners-up in the WAC Tournament.

Carrera assisted the NM State squad that put up five Aggies on the All-WAC First Team and swept major postseason awards.Victoria Castro, Mya Felder, Nikki Butler, Samaria Diaz and Kelsey Horton earned All-WAC First Team honors. Additionally, Diaz received the WAC Pitcher of the Year award, Felder was named the WAC Freshman of the Year and Butler brought home the Aggies seventh-straight WAC Player of the Year accolade. Following the postseason tournament, Horton, Diaz and Casie Roberto brought home WAC All-Tournament honors. Butler and Diaz also garnered NFCA Pacific Region Third Team awards.

Statistically, NM State batted .288 for the season with a .494 slugging percentage and a .373 on-base percentage during Carrera's first season.The squad's 1.27 homers per game ranked 12th nationally and the team's slugging percentage was good enough for 24th. New Mexico States's 70 home runs, 164 walks and 329 batters struck out also led the WAC.

Prior to NM State, she assisted with creating practice plans and scouting reports while also handling recruiting duties at Omaha. In 2018, the Mavericks finished with a 20-31 overall record and a 5-9 mark in Summit League action. She helped train Kelly Patterson, who led the conference in batting average (.414) while also receiving First Team All-Summit accolades and NFCA All-Midwest Region Third Team honors.

Prior to her stint at UNO, Carrera served as an assistant coach at Alvin Community College.  As a part of the Dolphins coaching staff, her duties included assisting in practice and game day responsibilities, recruiting and academic success.  She also coached for the Impact Gold Organization and played professionally for one season in Italy.

A utility player for UTEP from 2008-12, Carrera concluded her career with 14 school records.  She is the Miners' career leader in games played (227), hits (260), batting average (.401), slugging percentage (.777), on-base percentage (.508), doubles (57), home runs (61) and RBI (197).
 
Carrera also earned numerous awards during her career at UTEP.  She was a four-time Conference USA First Team honoree and named the 2012 conference player of the year.  She became the first player in program history to earn National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America First Team accolades. In 2018, she inducted into UTEP's Hall of Fame.
 
In addition to her on-field honors, Carrera was a four-time Conference USA Commissioners' Honor Roll selection.
 
Carrera graduated from UTEP with a degree in kinesiology-physical education with a minor in education in 2012.
