Jeff Young

After serving as a Volunteer Assistant Coach in his first season with the program in 2022, Coach Young assumed the role of Assistant Coach ahead of the 2023 season.

In his debut season with the Aggies, Young helped coach an Aggie squad that finished the season with a 13-38 record and a 6-18 record in WAC play. Despite the down year, the Aggies still found a way to finish in the top five in the conference in batting average (3rd, .307), double plays per game (2nd, 0.31), home runs per game (1st, 1.29), on-base percentage (3rd, .372), scoring (3rd, 5.22), slugging percentage (2nd, .499) and stolen bases per game (4th, 0.78).

Young also helped coach First Team All-WAC member Ramsay Lopez who paced the conference in home runs (17), home runs per game (0.33) and slugging percentage (.710).

In Young's first season, the Aggies earned the No. 7 seed in the WAC Tournament where they met up with sixth-seeded and host Sam Houston in a single Elimination play-in game. NM State exceeded all expectations as they took down the Bearkats and would eventually be one of the last four teams standing in the 2022 WAC Tournament.
