Taylor Sargent

Taylor Sargent, a fixture on the softball scene in El Paso, Texas, joins head coach Kathy Rodolph’s staff for the 2022 season.

Before joining Rodolph’s staff, Sargent served as the assistant softball coordinator and staff instructor for the El Paso Border Youth Athletic Association. A non-profit organization founded in 2000, the BYAA works with youths from around the El Paso area who hope to pursue collegiate baseball and softball dreams. Sargent oversaw lessons, camps and clinics through her two-year affiliation with the BYAA

For four years (2015-18), Sargent starred for UTEP as a utility player under head coach Tobin Echo-Hawk. A 2017 All-C-USA Second Team selection, Sargent wrapped up her collegiate career as the Miners’ leader in double plays turned (41) while ranking among the top 10 player in program history in nine other statistical categories including triples (second, six), career fielding percentage (.983, fifth) and sacrifice hits (fourth, 13).

A product of Albuquerque, N.M., Sargent put together an impressive career at Volcano Vista High School before inking with UTEP to compete collegiately. She collected a pair of C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll citations (2015 and 2016) before earning her bachelor’s degree from UTEP.
