Junior
(2010): Nohara was named to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch
Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-West Region team and earned a 2010
All-WAC second team selection. Making a mark in program history, she set career
records at NM State with 40 home runs, 136 career RBI and 1,008 putouts as a
junior. Nationally, Nohara ranked among the top 300 players in the country in
nine categories highlighted by ranking ninth in RBI per game (1.15) and 10th in
slugging percentage (.825). Nohara led the Aggies in home runs (16), RBI (62),
total bases (118), doubles (14), walks (37), slugging percentage (.825),
on-base percentage (.518) and batting average (.378) during the 2010 campaign.
Her 62 RBI led the conference and her home run total was a personal best, one
shy of the single-season record at NM State. Nohara's career HR total of 40
ranks fourth all-time in the WAC, just 22 shy of the top mark heading into her
senior year. A .657 career slugging percentage ranks her eighth all-time in the
WAC. Her 2010 slugging percentage of .825 ranks seventh all-time in conference
history and her 62 RBI stands eighth all-time in the WAC. More impressively her
1.15 clip of RBI per game ranks second all-time in the league. She was named
WAC Hitter of the Week on March 1 after a huge series against Northern Colorado
where she blasted a grand slam and scored four runs. Nohara tied the WAC
tourney mark for home runs in a game with a pair of round trippers against San
Jose State in the final game of the year.
Sophomore
(2009): Nohara was a 2009 All-WAC first team selection and was named to
the WAC All-Tournament team. As the clean-up hitter, she started all 54 games
for the Aggies, helping them set six team offensive records. She went
66-for-154 in the box with a team-high batting average of .429, which set a new
NM State single-season record and her .527 on-base percentage also set a new
record. Nohara hit 14 home runs, had 45 RBIs, scored 29 runs, had five doubles
and a triple. Her 14 homers are the second most in a season by an Aggie as were
her 115 total bases, 45 RBIs (tied) and slugging percentage (.747). Against San
Jose State, May 8, Nohara had a flawless 4-for-4 performance at the plate,
which tied NM State's single-game hit record and she added three RBIs. Nohara
also earned WAC Hitter of the Week honors after having a stellar performance at
the Troy Cox Classic Tournament, Feb. 12-16, where she was selected to the
all-tournament team. Nohara hit four home runs while going 9-for-16 in the box
and scored six runs in the tournament. Against Cleveland State, Feb. 7, Nohara
had her first 4-for-4 outing at the plate and she hit a home run and had two
RBIs. At the San Diego Tournament against Texas Tech, March 13, Nohara went
3-for-3, had five RBIs, including a three-RBI triple (the first triple of her
career) and a run scored.
Freshman
(2008): Nohara was named as the Troy Cox Classic Most Valuable Player and
then earned the WAC Hitter of the Week award for her efforts during the
tournament. She went 37-for-172 in
the box with a .215 batting average on the year. She hit six doubles, a triple,
scored 14 runs, drove in 29 runs and smacked 10 home runs throughout the
season. During the Troy Cox Classic, Feb. 22-24, Nohara went 8-for-13 in the
box while she hit two home runs, a triple and a pair of doubles. She also
scored four runs and drove in an impressive nine RBIs. The weekend was
highlighted when she hit the game-winning two-run double against Oklahoma
State, Feb. 22, to beat the Cowgirls, 6-5. Then against Indiana State, Feb. 23
and Utah Valley, Feb. 24, Nohara had flawless performances, going 3-for-3 at
the dish in both games. At the UNLV Tournament against Portland State, March 7,
she went 2-for-3, plated a pair, scored a run and hit a home run during her
first at-bat of the game. Nohara hit her final homer of the season against San
Jose State, April 26, while she went 2-for-4 at the plate, scored a run and
plated three.
High
School: Nohara led the Kamehameha Warriors' to the Interscholastic League
of Honolulu (ILH) Championship and a fifth place finish at state. Throughout
her senior campaign she batted.537 with a slugging percentage of 1.002. She
drove in 17 runs, hit two homers, five triples and four doubles. She also
tabbed first team honors from the Honolulu Star Bulletin and was picked to the
second team by the Honolulu Advertiser. Nohara also wrestled for four years and
is a four-time state individual champion while carrying her squad to
back-to-back ILH Championship. She is also a two-time state champion in Judo.
Hoku is also a 13-time world record holder in bench press, putting up a total
of 352 pounds and racking 407 pounds in the dead lift.
Personal: Nohara is the daughter of David and Randolyn Nohara
and was born in Honolulu, Hawai'i. She is majoring in athletic training.
