Biography

Junior (2010): During her third season in Crimson and White, Jones earned her first All-WAC recognition with second team honors. The reliable outfielder finished the year with a .345 average at the plate from the number two lineup spot. Jones finished second on the team with 61 hits and third on the squad with 42 runs scored. Jones started 51 of 52 games for the Aggies all in the outfield. She spent 34 games in center and 17 in left field. On defense, Jones posted a .971 fielding percentage. During the season, she strung together the longest hitting streak on the team of 12 consecutive games with a hit and ended the year on a four-game streak. Jones was second on the team in multi-hit games with 20, including team-high six three-hit contests. At NM State's Troy Cox Classic, Jones earned all-tournament team honors after hitting .429 in the tourney. She registered six hits that led to seven RBI, while her slugging percentage came in at .500 on the weekend. After the season, Jones earned NFCA Scholar Athlete honors alongside 10 teammates. She also was a member of the Academic All-WAC softball team for her work in the classroom.

Sophomore (2009): Jones was also named to the 2009 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Team. She made 52 appearances and started in 49 games in the outfield as a sophomore. She etched her name onto a pair of single-season record lists and ranked in the Top 10 in five single-game categories. Her .378 batting average ranked third on the team, fourth in the WAC and fifth on NM State's single-season record list. She scored 43 times, which ranks fourth on the single-season list and had 24 RBIs, eight doubles, one triple and two home runs. She was walked 10 times, stole four bases, had a .410 on-base parentage and a .471 slugging percentage. Jones had three flawless performances in the box in 2009. The first was in the season opener against Colorado State, Feb. 5, when she went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored a run. She did the same a few weeks later against Northern Colorado, Feb. 21, when she went 4-for-4 in the box, tying the school record for most hits in a game. In the second meeting of the season against New Mexico, April 28, Jones went 4-for-4, scored four runs, had three RBIs, a double, a triple, was walked and swiped a base. Her first career home run came against Southern Utah, Feb. 28. She went 2-for-3 in the box in that game with a pair of runs driven in. Her second home run was a solo-shot against Louisiana Tech, May 1.

Freshman (2008): Jones played in 58 games for the Aggies as a freshman, starting 49 with 35 of those starts in centerfield. She ranked third on the team and 15th in the WAC at the plate, hitting .327 on the year with 16 multi-hit games. That was second highest number on the team and also tied for 15th in the conference. She crossed the plate 29 times, had 10 RBIs, hit three doubles and three triples, which tied for fourth in the WAC. Against Georgetown, March 5, Jones had one of her strongest performances of the season going 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple. She also crossed the plate once and had two RBIs as the Aggies recorded an 8-0 victory over the Hoyas. On March 12 against I-10 rival UTEP, Jones went 3-for-4 at the dish. She capped off the season on a high note going 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored against Fresno State in the season finale. Jones did not commit a single error throughout the entire season, which ties her for first on NM State's all-time record list for best fielding percentage in a season. Jones was named to the 2008 Academic All-WAC Transfer/Freshman Team.

High School: Jones was a four-year varsity player who earned first team all-league honors in 2005 and 2006. She led her high school team to three straight Suburban League Championships and a birth in the CIF Championship game in 2004. She was a four-time scholar athlete and was named to the Press-Telegram Dream Team in 2006.

Personal: Jones is the daughter of Leonard and Stephanie Jones and was born in Anaheim Hills, Calif. She is majoring in community health.
