Biography

Prior to NMSU:  Russell transferred to NMSU after being a part of the University of Texas- Corpus Christi softball team during the 2008 season.

 

High School:  Russell is a 2007 graduate from Conifer High School in Conifer, Colo., where she lettered in softball all four years.  During her final season, she led the Lobos to a Regional Championship and made it to the high school softball final four after posting an impressive 19-3 overall record.  Russell led the team with a .526 batting average and a .860 slugging average.  In the circle, she had an ERA of .67 and sat down 223 opponents in 135.67 innings of work.  She also recorded 10 shutouts which included six no-hitters.  Russell was a Triple Crown Sparkler USA All-Star, a USSSA-Colorado All-Star, a Colorado All-State Senior All-Star and an all-State selection her senior year.  From 2004-06, Russell was selected to the all-conference team and the team’s most valuable player.  As a junior she led the team to a 12-6 finish and as a sophomore she assisted the team to a 16-3 season and made an appearance in the state quarter finals.  During both of these seasons Russell made the All-State Honorable Mention Team.  As a freshman, Russell helped the team to win the district, state and regional championships, while finishing with a record of 22-1.

 

Academics:  Russell is majoring in criminal justice and plans to be an FBI Agent. 

 

Personal: Russell is the daughter of Kevin and Vickie Russell and was born in Wichita, Kan.
