Junior (2008):  Gastelum played in 49 games during the 2008 season, making 31 starts with 27 of those starts in centerfield.  She hit .247 on the year with 19 hits, three doubles, six RBIs and scored 18 runs.  Gastelum had one of her strongest performances against Utah Valley, Feb. 24, when she went 2-for-3 at the dish, drove in a pair of runs and crossed the plate twice.  She matched her season-high two RBIs against Cal State Bakersfield, April 19, when she smacked her third double of the season.  Against Louisiana Tech, April 5, Gastelum registered a team-high three sacrifice hits, which tied her for first place in the WAC for most sacrifice hits in a game.  Gastelum also gets it done in the classroom as she was selected to the 2008 academic all-WAC team.

Sophomore (2007): She played in 54 games in 2007, making 52 starts all in center field. Gastelum hit .215 on the year with 31 hits, three doubles, 11 RBI and scored 16 runs. She was one of the hardest batters to strikeout in the conference, as she was fanned just 12 times in 144 at-bats or just .22 times per game (fifth lowest in the WAC). She drove in a career-high three runs on Feb. 18 in an 11-10 win over UTEP, where she went 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and scored two runs. Her five sacrifice hits on the year tied for the team lead and had a flashy glove that she showed off making spectacular catches out in center field. Gastelum led all outfielders with five assists.

Freshman (2006): A First Team All-WAC honoree as a freshman, Gastelum started 47-of-49 games in center field for the Aggies. She batted .315, which was good for second on the team, had eight RBI and scored 26 runs of her own, also good for second on the squad while batting out of the No. 2 slot in the lineup. She had a 10-game hitting streak that was tied of the third best in the WAC with teammate Ashley Roszkos. She helped win two games for the Aggies with walk-off base hits in the bottom of the seventh: against Texas-San Antonio on Feb. 11 and again versus Nevada on April 22. At one time, she ranked among the hardest players to strikeout in the national statistics, Gastelum fanned just nine times in 146 at-bats. She was one of only three Aggies successful in every stolen base attempt, as she was 4-for-4 swiping bases. Defensively she made just on error in 59 chances for a .983 fielding percentage. On April 22, in a doubleheader against Nevada, she had a season-high for hits in a game when she went 3-for-4 in both games that day.

High School: Gastelum is a 2005 graduate of Foothill High School in Tustin, Calif., where she helped the Knights to three Sea View League Championships and a second-place finish in CIF Division I. A two-time all-league selection, Gastelum was also named to the all-county and All-CIF teams during her career.
