Junior (2008): Lien was an at-large second team All-WAC selection during the 2008 season for the Aggies. As the primary designated hitter, she went 46-for-140 at the dish with a .329 batting average, ranking second on the team and 13th in the WAC. She etched her name into third-place on NMSU’s single-season RBI list as she recorded the second most on the team and the ninth most throughout the conference with 39 RBIs. Lien also tied for first on the team with 11 multi-RBI games which ranked ninth in the WAC. She capped off the year with four doubles, three triples and five home runs. Against Louisiana Tech, April 6, Lien hit back-to-back bombs out of the park, making her the ninth Aggie in the history of the program to record a pair of homers in a single game. She was also one RBI short from tying her personal-best, single-game RBI effort of seven which was set during her first season as an Aggie. Lien recoded 13-multiple hit games with her longest hitting streak of seven lasting from Feb. 17?23. She was also the lone Aggie to get a hit against the U.S. National team, April 6.
Sophomore (2007): Lien was used as the Aggies primary designated player in 2007, playing in 41 games, starting 27 as the DP and 14 behind the plate. She had 24 hits on the year, seven doubles, one home run and 14 RBI. From Feb. 16-18, Lien had four straight games where she drove in at least one run. She had a season-high three RBI against Harvard on March 10, where she was 1-for-4 with a double. In a 6-7 loss in extra innings to St. Mary’s College on March 19, Lien went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI.
Freshman (2006): Lien was named to the All-WAC First Team after a freshman season in which she batted .287 with two home runs and 29 RBI. She drove in three runs in New Mexico State’s 5-0 win over San Jose State at the WAC Championships on May 12. Her seven RBI in a nightcap of an April 1 doubleheader with Louisiana Tech tied an eight year-old school single-game record and it led the WAC for most RBI in a game. Lien had three hits, including her first career home run in a 9-2 win over Villanova on March 3 to start the UCF Invitational, a tournament at which she would earn all-tournament honor by knocking nine base hits in 17 at-bats (.529 BA). She appeared in all but two games in 2006 and made 45 starts, mostly at designated player. Leading the team with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, she had 66 putouts and four assists in the seven games she started behind the plate. Lien was named to the NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete list and made the Academic All-WAC Softball Team with her 3.50 grade-point-average in kinesiology.
High School: Lien is a 2005 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Tacoma, Wash. where she played four seasons for head coach Jim Minniti. Lien helped WWHS to consecutive league titles her junior and senior seasons and three appearances in the state championships. A three time All-Narrows League selection, Lien was named team MCP as a senior and earned the Tacoma Athletic Commission’s Athlete of the Month award for April 2004.
