Biography

Sophomore (2011): In her second season, Kaaihue almost doubled her starts from the previous year with 44 in 52 appearances. Most of those starts came at second base but she also played outfield, third base and first base as a vital utility player. Kaaihue hit .294 on the year with a slugging percentage of .515 and on-base percentage of .358. She put together a seven-game hitting streak from March 25 - Apr. 1. Kaaihue's power numbers showed up late in the season when she belted four of her eight home runs in a span of seven games Apr. 22-30. On the base paths, Kaaihue was a perfect 8-for-8 in steals. Her 102 putouts ranked fourth on the team, defensively. She also earned WAC All-Academic Team honors for the second straight season.

Freshman (2010): Kaaihue started 23 games for the Aggies and made 49 appearances as a rookie. She hit .312 on the season with 24 hits and 13 RBI. She set a pair of career highs against UTSA on Feb. 13 with four runs scored and four RBI against the Roadrunners. Late in the season she totaled five at-bats at San Jose State, scoring a run and posting two RBI in the process. Kaaihue hit eight extra-base hits including two homers and six doubles on the season. She posted six multi-hit games and three contests with multiple RBI in 2010. Kaaihue earned WAC All-Academic Team honors for her performance in the classroom.

High School: Kaaihue was a four-year letter winner in softball and volleyball at Kapolei High School. She was selected to the state all-star team in both sports from 2006-08. She led the Hurricanes to a third place state finish in 2006 and a fifth place finish in 2007 in softball. She batted .468 as a senior with 35 RBIs, eight home runs, eight doubles; six triples and stole 14 bases. Kaaihue was the 2009 OIA West Volleyball Player of the Year and was chosen to play in the first annual senior invitational all-star game.

Personal: She is the daughter of father Alden Kaaihue and his wife Alyssa, and mother Marlo Mello and her husband Eric. Kaaihue was born in Honolulu, Hawai'i. She is a pre-community health major.
