Biography

Junior: Devon played in seven tournaments for NMSU during the 2004-05 season. She shot her low round of 70 at the Spartan Invitational (3/9-10) in Salinas, Calif., where she placed in a tie for 23rd with an 11-over-par 78-76-70?224. Her best finish was at the Sun Belt Conference Championships (4/18-20) in Port St. Lucie, Fla., where she shot a 13-over-par 76-78-77?231 to place sixth along with Erin Kato. Devon’s scoring average for the season was 78.77.

 

2003-04 (Sophomore): Newell competed in eight tournaments for the Aggies and finished the season with a scoring average of 80.21. Her best finish came at the 2004 Sun Belt Conference Championships where she placed 13th with a scores of 78-78-77--223. She shot a season-low round 75 on three occasions and tied for 38th at the Ping/ASU Invitational (4/2-4) with scores of 75-76-75--226. Devon was named to the NGCA All-American Scholar Team.

2002-03 (Freshman): She competed in one tournament for the Aggies, finishing with a season scoring average of 86. She shot a low round of 77 at the Comcast/Dick McGuire Invitational.

High School: Devon was a four-time Montana High School All-State selection (1999-2002). She was a three-time member of the Montana State Junior America’s Cup (1999-2001). She also qualified for the U.S. Junior Championship and the Junior America's Cup in 2001.

Personal: Devon Aiko Newell was born in Havre, Montana. She is the daughter of Dale and Dawn Newell. She is majoring in Professional Golf Management.
