Biography
Junior: Murphy returns to NM State having played in eight of the
nine regular-season tournaments for the team in 2008-09. Averaging 78 strokes
per round, Murphy had her best single-round score at the Branch Law Firm/Dick
McGuire Invitational with 1-over-par in the second round. She matched that feat
a second time at the BYU-Dixie Classic (March 24-25). She saw her best finish at
the Baylor Spring Invitational (March 16-17) when she tied for 10th. The team
came in second in that tournament. Murphy carded a 229 (74-78-77) in the WAC
Championship and tied for 17th. With that score, she helped the Aggies to a
fifth-place conference finish.
Sophomore: Murphy played
in eight of the nine tournaments for the Aggies averaging 80.82 strokes per
round in 22 rounds of play. Her
low round of 70 was recorded in the third round of the BYU/Dixie Classic
(4/1-2). Her best finish came in
the first tournament of the season, the NAU/La Quinta Mountain Inn Shootout
(9/17-18), when she tied for seventh with a 15-over-par 159 to help the Aggies
to a second place finish. Murphy
was also named a 2007-08 National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar
by the NGCA. Even with the time
she puts into golf, she has been able to maintain a 3.73 GPA, as she is
majoring in community health.
Red-Shirt Freshman: Murphy
brought the most experience back to the New Mexico State women's golf team as
she participated in all nine tournaments in 2006-07. She averaged 79.23 strokes per round in her 26 rounds of
play, and her low round was a 74, which came at the Susie Maxwell Berning
Classic in Norman, Okla. Murphy's
best finish came at the Western Athletic Conference Championships where she
tied for 26th firing rounds of 76-79-82 for a 21-over-par 237. At the Price's "Give 'Em Five"
Intercollegiate, she helped her team to a first place finish while she carded a
19-over-par 235.
Freshman: Murphy did
not compete in 2005-06 due to a red shirt season.
High School: Murphy played her prep golf at O'Gorman High School in
Sioux Falls, S.D. and led the Knights to a fourth place finish at the state
tournament in 2004. She was named All-State and All-Greater Dakota Conference
as a sophomore, junior and senior. She played in the No. 1 varsity slot all
four years of high school and was named all-city each of those seasons. She
helped lead the Knights to the conference title as a junior and the city
championship as a senior.
Personal: Murphy was
born in Sioux Falls, S.D. and is the daughter of Dan and Jean Murphy. She was
member of her high school honor roll and is majoring in community health.
