Biography

2013-14 (JUNIOR): As in her sophomore year, Darwin participated in six tournaments for NM State during the 2013-14 campaign, three in the fall and three in the spring.  She improved her average score by almost five strokes, finishing the season with a 78.94 scoring average while sinking 11 birdies in 18 rounds.  Darwin shot three rounds in the 70s during her first two tournaments of the fall, something she did not accomplish once during her first season as part of the Aggie squad.

She began the season by finishing in a tie for 18th place at the Hobble Creek Invitational (Sep. 9-10), her best finish while at NM State.  The following month at the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Intercollegiate (Oct. 7-9) in Las Cruces, Darwin once again shot three rounds in the 70s, including a career-best 3-over-par during round one, en route to a career-best total score of 13-over 229.  She then proceeded to break her personal low round again during her next tournament, the Rainbow Wahine Invitational (Oct. 29-31), after shooting a 1-over-par 73 during the second round.  Darwin finished the Rainbow Wahine in a tie for 25th place, her second-best finish behind her season-opening finish at Hobble Creek.

2012-13 (SOPHOMORE): Darwin finished her first season as part of the NM State women’s golf team by competing in six of 10 tournaments.  Although she only competed in two during the fall schedule, she finished the season by competing in the final four tournaments of the season, including the WAC Women’s Golf Championship (April 22-24).  She finished the conference tournament in 32nd place with a total score of 28-over-par 244, one shot off of her best total score of the season.

Darwin finished the season with an 83.71 scoring average and 11 birdies.  She began her season by participating in the Aggies’ home tournament, the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Intercollegiate (Oct. 8-10), and finishing in a tie for 69th and posting her best total score of the season, a 27-over 243.  Darwin followed the home tournament with a 68th place finish at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational (Oct. 30-31).  She shot her best round of the season, a 6-over 78, in consecutive tournaments, first during the second round of the BYU at Entrada Classic (March 18-19) and again during the second round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic (April 8-10).

2011-12 (FRESHMAN): Darwin attended NM State but was not part of the golf team during her freshman year.

HIGH SCHOOL: Darwin played four years of golf for La Cueva High School located in Albuquerque, N.M.  She graduated in 2011 with four letters in varsity golf.  During her senior year, the Bears won both the district and state championship.  During her junior year, Darwin finished the state tournament as the state runner-up.  Her senior year saw her win the individual district championship and once again finish as the runner-up in the state tournament, this time to fellow NM State golfer Kacey Dalpes.

PERSONAL: Darwin was born in Albuquerque, N.M., and is the daughter of Ben and Kathy Darwin.  Her father played golf at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.  While in high school Darwin maintained a 4.0 GPA and was part of both the National English and Spanish Honor Societies.  She is seeking a degree in accounting and hopes to one day become a tax attorney.
