Biography
2013-14 (FRESHMAN): Broome specialized in the 100 back and 100 fly during her first year at NM State. She swam both events four times while also swimming the 50 free, 100 free and the 400-medley and 400-free relays. Broome marked a fifth-place finish versus Idaho (Jan. 18) with a time of 1:00.86 in the 100 fly. She also had two fifth-places finishes in 100 back, first versus Grand Canyon (Jan. 25) with a time of 1:01.48 and then against New Mexico (Feb. 1) with a time of 1:00.03. Her season-best times for all four of her individual events, however, came at the WAC Championships (Feb. 26-Mar. 1) as she marked a 25.13 in the 50 free, a 58.43 in the 100 back, a 59.28 in the 100 fly and a 55.01 in the 100 free.
HIGH SCHOOL: A sprint freestyle, butterfly and backstroke specialist, Broome, a Phoenix, Ariz., resident, swam for the Scottsdale Aquatic Club with coach Kevin Zacher, and attended Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz. Broome led the Fire Birds to a 7-0 record in 2012 and a sixth-place showing at state. She is both a team and conference record holder.
PERSONAL: Broome is the daughter of Todd and Kim Broome and was born in St. Louis, Mo. She hasn’t decided on a major.
