Biography
2013-14 (SENIOR): Zuniga concluded her Aggie career by competing in six meets during her final season while swimming the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly. She also contributed to the 200-free, 400-free and 400-medley relay teams. As in previous years, Zuniga had her best times of the season at the WAC Championships (Feb. 26-Mar. 1). She posted a lifetime best of 25.44 during the 50 free and had season-best times in the 100 free (55.74) and 100 fly (1:00.33).
2012-13 (JUNIOR): In her third year in the water for the Aggies, Zuniga provided depth in the freestyle and butterfly events. She set season-best times in four individual events at the 2013 WAC Championships. Zuniga posted season-best performances in the 50 free (25.98), 100 free (55.47), 100 fly (1:01.50) and 100 back (1:05.13) at the conference meet. She was also named to the Academic All-WAC for the second straight year.
2011-12 (SOPHOMORE): In her sophomore season, Zuniga was a sprint freestyle specialist. She recorded two lifetime-best times at the 2012 WAC Championships in the 50 free (25.54) and 100 butterfly (1:00.17). Zuniga also posted season-best times in the 100 free (56.18) and 100 back (1:03.85) at the WAC meet. She also contributed to the Aggie relays as a sophomore and swam in the 400-free and 200-medley relays. Zuniga earned Academic All-WAC honors in 2011-12.
2010-11 (FRESHMAN): As a freshman, Zuniga competed in the sprint freestyle and butterfly events in 2010-11. She set a season-best mark in the 50 free (26.39) in the season opener against Boise State/North Texas (Oct. 22). On the second day of the Boise State/North Texas meet (Oct. 23), Zuniga recorded her personal-best time in the 100 free (57.03). In the 100 fly (1:01.99), Zuniga posted her season-best at the UNLV Invitational, where she finished in 24th place.
HIGH SCHOOL: Zuniga, a Las Cruces native, is a sprint freestyle specialist for the Aggies after graduating from Oñate High School. She guided the Las Cruces Aquatic Team to the state championship in 2010. Zuniga was a member of the 200-free relay and 200-medley relay that set New Mexico records.
PERSONAL: Born in Las Cruces, Zuniga is the daughter of Rafael and Edna Zuniga. Her twin sister, Brianna, also swam for NM State. Zuniga majored in biology.
