2011-12 (Senior): Smith concluded her NM State career with three top 25 finishes at the 2012 WAC Championships. She recorded a pair of 19th-place finishes at the WAC meet in the 1,650 free (17:49.98) and 200 butterfly (2:10.73), both were season-best times. Smith also posted a 22nd-place showing in the 500 free (5:10.60). Additionally, Smith had season-best performances in the 200 free (1:58.53) and 100 fly (58.78) at her final conference meet. She was named to the Academic All-WAC team.
2010-11 (Junior): In her junior campaign, Smith specialized in the freestyle and butterfly events for the Aggies. She scored in two events for the Crimson and White at the WAC Championships. Smith finished in 12th place in the 1,650 free with season-best performance (17:25.37) and 16th place in the 200 fly. She also posted season-best times at the WAC meet in the 500 free (5:08.19) 100 fly (58.46) and 200 fly (2:07.63). At Northern Arizona (Dec. 4), Smith captured a pair of third-place showings in the 100 fly and 200 fly. She also collected a bronze in the 200 fly at Northern Colorado (Jan. 21).
2009-10 (Sophomore): Smith posted season-best times in the 100 fly (58.79), 200 fly (2:11.24), 200 free (1:55. 88), 500 free (5:06.64) and 1,650 free (17:22.85) at the 2010 WAC Championships as a sophomore. The Aggies finished second at the conference meet, which is a program best, and Smith collected ninth place in the 1,650 free and 21st place in the 500 free. In the home opening weekend against Northern Arizona/Northern Colorado (Oct. 31), Smith was fifth in both the 100 fly and 200 fly. At Arizona State (Dec. 19), she finished sixth in the 200 fly and seventh in the 1,000 free. In addition, Smith earned Academic All-WAC team honors.
2008-09 (Freshman): In her debut season with the Aggies, Smith had a breakout performance at the WAC Championships. She set a school record in the 1,650 free and earned runner-up honors at the conference meet. Smith also had lifetime-best showings in the 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 free. She helped the Aggies to a third-place finish at the WAC meet when she claimed 11th in the 100 fly and 16th in the 200 fly. Smith provided consistent depth in the butterfly events throughout the season. In the Aggies first victory at Northern Arizona (Dec. 6), she touched the wall in third in the 200 fly. At San Diego (Dec. 13), Smith collected third-place finishes in the 100 fly, 200-medley and 400-free relays. She won her first individual title in the 1,000 free along with top honors in the 400-free relay at Northern Colorado (Jan. 16). Smith also was second in the 200 free in the regular season finale against in-state rival New Mexico (Jan. 28). She was named to the Academic All-WAC Freshmen team.
High School: Smith, a Mexico City, Mexico native, holds the Central America and Mexico Cup record in the 100 fly in addition to the Mexican Absolute record in the 4x100 IM. Smith was a Mexico City 2007 long course champion. In 2007, she was the runner-up in the 200 free and fourth in the 400 free in the 17-18 year-old age group. Smith collected a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 fly in the 15-16 year old age group in 2006. She was also the 2006 short course champion.
Personal: She was born in Mexico City, Mexico, to Stephen Smith and Adriana Orellana. Smith is majoring in animation and visual effects.
