2013-14 (SENIOR): Zuniga capped off her NM State career by specializing in the backstroke events, swimming the 100 back a total of seven times and the 200 back a total of eight times. She also swam the 100 fly and 200 Individual Medley (IM) during the season while also taking part in the 200-free, 200-medley and 400-free relay teams. She concluded her career by swimming lifetime-best times in all four events at the 2014 WAC Championships (Feb. 26-Mar. 1). Zuniga swam a 59.71 in the 100 back, a 58.68 in the 100 fly, a 2:04.99 in the 200 back and a 2:11.34 in the 200 IM, all the best of her career. At the end of the season she was also honored as an Academic All-WAC swimmer for the third-straight season.
2012-13 (JUNIOR): In her junior campaign, Zuniga continued to trim seconds off of her lifetime-best times. She set three lifetime best at the 2013 WAC Championships in the 100 back (1:00.73), 200 back (2:06.70) and 400 IM (4:46.86). Zuniga also posted a season-best time in the 200 IM (2:15.69) at the league meet. For the second consecutive season, Zuniga earned Academic All-WAC honors.
2011-12 (SOPHOMORE): At the 2012 WAC Championships, Zuniga set season-best times in the 100 back (1:00.99) and 200 back (2:09.09), which were improvements of nearly two seconds and four seconds, respectively. Zuniga improved her lifetime-best time in the 200 IM (2:14.92) at the UNLV Winter Invitational (Dec. 17-19) and season-best time in the 400 IM (4:48.50) at the WAC meet. In addition, Zuniga was an Academic All-WAC honoree.
2010-11 (FRESHMAN): In her first season as an Aggie, Zuniga competed in the backstroke, and IM. Zuniga posted season-best times at the UNLV Invitational (Dec. 11-13) in five events. In the 400 IM, she recorded a season-best 13th-place finish (5:01.72). Zuniga was 21st in the 200 back (2:15.81), while her performances in the 100 free (59.94), 100 back (1:04.72) and 200 IM (2:22.00) were season-best marks.
HIGH SCHOOL: A hometown product, Zuniga joined the Aggies as a freestyle and backstroke specialist after graduating from Oñate High School. In 2010, she led the Las Cruces Aquatic Team to the state championship. Zuniga also placed in the top eight at the meet.
PERSONAL: Zuniga is the daughter of Rafael and Edna Zuniga and was born in Las Cruces. Her twin sister, Alessandra, also swam for NM State.
