Biography
2008-09 (Senior): In her final campaign at New Mexico State, Barr contributed to the Aggies in the butterfly and freestyle events. She recorded lifetime-best performances at the WAC Championships. Barr collected a pair of top 15 finishes in the 100 fly (57.31) and 200 fly (2:07.63) with career-best swims. In addition, she set a lifetime-best mark in the 500 freestyle (5:09.29) in her last conference meet. Barr also concluded her Aggie career as a three-time Academic All-WAC team honoree.
2007-08 (Junior): As a junior, Barr continued to provide depth for the Aggies in the distance freestyle and butterfly events. Her season-best times in the 100 fly (59.61) and 500 free (5:13.89) both occurred at the WAC Championships. Barr routinely swam in the 500 free, 1,000 free, 100 fly and 200 fly. Against North Texas (Jan. 8), she led the team in the 1,000 free with a third-place finish and scored in both the 500 free and 200 fly. Barr followed that performance with another third-place showing and season-best time in the 1,000 free (10:44.58) at Nevada (Jan. 17). She also contributed and scored against the Wolf Pack in the 500 free and 200 fly. In the win at Boise State (Jan. 19), Barr continued her production and scored in the 1,000 free, 100 fly and 200 fly. For the second consecutive season, she was named to the Academic All-WAC team.
2006-07 (Sophomore): In her second season with the Aggies, Barr became a consistent threat in both the freestyle and butterfly events. Her time of 1:57.66 in the 200 free at the WAC Championship preliminaries was the fifth-best finish for the Aggies in the event. Barr also recorded the team’s fourth-best finish in the 500 free (5:13.10) and 1,000 free (10:52.40). She also earned Academic All-WAC team honors.
2005-06 (Freshman): Barr placed third in the 1,000 free in the dual meet against in-state rival New Mexico (Jan. 28). At the WAC Championships, she placed 12th in the 1,650 free, 19th in the 500 free and 22nd in the 200 free. She was named to the Academic All-WAC Freshmen team.
High School: Barr graduated from Pinnacle High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., where she swam for head coach Ben Frank. Barr led Pinnacle to a dual meet record of 47-6 in her four years and regional championships her last three seasons. A three-time individual regional champion, Barr qualified for the state championships in four consecutive seasons. She holds five school records and was a team captain as a senior.
Personal: Barr was born in Edina, Minn., and is the daughter of Tom and Sandy Barr. She is majoring in management.
