Biography

2014-15 (JUNIOR):  Besides becoming one of the Aggies top swimmers, Rupp has also become one of the team’s leaders and was named one of the team’s captains. She had a breakout season during her junior campaign and was one of team’s consistent performers in not only the backstroke events, but also the freestyle and IM events.

During the UNLV Invite, Rupp had several great performances. She finished eigth in the 200 IM, sixth in the 100 back, and in the 200 back finished third with a personal best of 2:00.86. Her time in the 200 was also the fourth fastest all-time in program history. She was also a crucial backstroke leg on both medley relays and all freestyle relays at this Invite.

She ended the season with a great show at the WAC Championship meet, scoring in the A final for all three of her individual events and becoming a first team All-WAC performer. Rupp swam a personal best in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.08, which finished fourth and was also the third fastest Aggie All-Time. She also finished fourth in the 100 back and third in the 200 back. She was also a member of every freestyle relay and helped the NM State smash the program record in the 400 Medley Relay.

2013-14 (SOPHOMORE): Rupp had a busy season as a backstroke and freestyle specialist for the Aggies during her sophomore year, swimming in every meet while competing in six different individual events and five relay teams, breaking five of her career-best times.  She swam the 50 free, 100 free, 100 back, 200 back, 200 free and 200 Individual Medley (IM) while also being part of the 200-free, 200-medley, 400-free, 400-medley and 800-free relay teams.

Remarkably, in dual-meet competition, Rupp never finished worse than fifth place in any event she competed in, over 15 total, marking points for NM State in every event, including picking up her first win as an Aggie after winning the 200 free against Northern Colorado (Nov. 2) with a time of 1:56.81.  At the Phil Hansel Invitational in Houston (Nov. 21-23), Rupp had lifetime-best times in the 200 free (1:53.63) and 200 IM (2:06.41).  She began the spring schedule by finishing in the top 10 in all three of her events in a three-way meet versus two of the PAC-12’s best schools, Arizona and Oregon State, including a fifth-place finish in the 100 free.  She also anchored the Aggie relay team that won the 400-free relay during the meet.

After finishing outside the top 20 in the 100 and 200 back events at the 2013 WAC Championships, Rupp concluded her season at the 2014 WAC Championships (Feb. 26-Mar. 1) by finishing the 100 back in sixth place and the 200 back in eighth place while also finishing the 50 free in 20th place.  She had lifetime-best times in all three events, all in the preliminary rounds, including a 56.53 in the 100 back, a 2:02.87 in the 200 back and a 24.08 in the 50 free.  Rupp also helped NM State to a third-place finish in the 400-medley, fourth in the 400-free and 800-free and fifth in the 200-free relay.  She was also named to the Academic All-WAC team at the end of the season.

2012-13 (FRESHMAN): In her freshman campaign, Rupp was a backstroke and freestyle specialist. She recorded lifetime-best times at the 2013 WAC Championships in the 100 back (57.56) and 200 back (2:04.20). Rupp earned 22nd-place finishes in both events. She posted her top times of the season in the 200 IM (2:09.14), 100 free (52.89) and 200 free (1:54.79) at the WAC meet. Rupp also swam on the Aggie relay teams including the 200-free, 400-free, 200-medley and 400-medley relays. She earned Academic All-WAC Freshman/Transfer team honors for her success in the classroom.

HIGH SCHOOL: Rupp joined the Crimson and White from San Antonio, Texas. She swam for the Alamo Area Aquatics with head coach Bill Thomas and specialized in the backstroke and IM events. Rupp led Brandeis High School to a pair of district titles in 2012 and 2011. She was a team captain for the Broncos as a junior and senior, and she won the district title in the 100 back in 2011 and 2010. Rupp earned all-state honors as a member of the 400-free and 200-medley relays.  Rupp’s personal-best times were 58.7 in the 100 back, 2:06.1 in the 200 back and 2:08.1 in the 200 IM.
