New Mexico State University Athletics

Mark Tomlin begins his fifth season as a volunteer assistant coach for the New Mexico State swimming and diving team. Tomlin has been around swimming for most of his life. Raised in Champaign, Ill., he swam for four years at Southern Methodist University, where he was a three-time All-American. Specializing in distance freestyle, Tomlin was a finalist at the 1980 Olympic Swim Trials and competed in numerous national championships. 

Tomlin has two daughters that swam for top-10 Division I programs, and a son who is currently attending the University of Texas. He works in commercial real estate. He and his wife reside in El Paso, Texas.
