2009-10 (Senior): As a senior, Thomson broke her school record in the 500 free with a lifetime-best time (4:57.23) en route to leading the Aggies to a runner-up finish at the 2010 WAC Championships, the team’s best showing in program history. She also won the 1,650 free after setting a lifetime-best mark in the event (16:58.60) at the conference meet. Additionally, Thomson scored for the Crimson and White with a fourth-place showing in the both the 500 free and 400 individual medley. She anchored the 400-free relay that finished fifth and the 800-free relay that finished sixth. In the season opener, the WAC Shoot-Out (Oct. 9) in San Jose, Calif., Thomson anchored the 200-medley relay for a third-place showing. Against Northern Arizona/Northern Colorado (Oct. 31) in the home opening weekend, she claimed second in both the 500 free and 1,000 free. On senior day versus Idaho (Jan. 2), Thomson capped her illustrious Aggies career with a victory in the 1,000 free in her final meet in Las Cruces.
2008-09 (Junior): In her third season as an Aggie, Thomson set three new school records. At the WAC Championships, she broke NM State’s records in the 500 free, 400 individual medley and 800-free relay. Thomson collected her third consecutive 400 IM silver medal at the conference meet with a lifetime-best swim (4:25.35). She finished fourth in the 1,650 free (17:00.11) dropping over 11 seconds from her personal-best time. Thomson scored with a seventh-place showing in the 500 free. Additionally, she was the anchor for the sixth place 800-free relay that shattered the school record by over eight seconds. In the first meet of the season, WAC Shoot-Out (Oct. 10-11), Thomson posted a runner-up finish in the 1,000 free. In the Aggies first win at Northern Arizona (Dec. 6), she claimed first place in the 800 free and second place in the 400 free. Thomson followed with a third-place showing in the 500 free and 400-free relay at San Diego (Dec. 13), before she tallied a pair of top honors in the 500 free and 1,000 free at Loyola Marymount (Dec. 19). Thomson took second in both the 200 free and 400-free relay at Northern Colorado (Jan. 16). The next day at Colorado State (Jan. 17), she finished in third in the 1,000 free and second in the 200-free relay. Thomson guided the Aggies to their second consecutive victory over in-state rival New Mexico (Jan. 28) with a win in the 1,000 free and runner-up showing in the 500 free and 200-free relay. She was honored for her success in the classroom and was named to the Academic All-WAC team.
2007-08 (Sophomore): Thomson was a force in the pool in the distance freestyle events as a sophomore despite missing several meets due to an injury. At the WAC Championships, Thomson earned her second consecutive runner-up finish in the 400 IM with a lifetime-best performance (4:29.88). She also posted a third-place showing in the 1,650 free (17:15.17) and a fifth-place showing in the 500 free (5:02.73). Thomson returned from injury at Nevada (Jan. 17) to finish second in the 500 free before she won with a then season-best time in the 1,000 free at Boise State (Jan. 19). In the win at New Mexico, Thomson collected top honors in the 500 free and 1,000 free with a season-best time (10:28.29). Versus Northern Arizona, she won both the 500 free and 1,650 free in the regular season finale.
2006-07 (Freshman): In her first season with the Aggies, Thomson quickly cemented herself as a fixture for the team as she set two school records. In wins over Florida International/North Texas (Jan. 12), Thomson placed second in the 1,000 free as she set the school record with a time of 17:11.60. Her 1,000 free time was also the second fastest time posted in the WAC. In her first WAC Championships, Thomson set the school record in the 1,650 free as she finished fourth and touched in a time of 17:11.60. Her time was the fourth best in the league in 2006-07. In the 400 IM, Thomson placed second with a time of 4:30.84, which was the fourth fastest time in the event that season. Thomson also swam well in the 500 free as she placed seventh with a time of 5:02.11. Her time in the 500 free was the ninth fastest time in the WAC. She was named to the Academic All-WAC Freshmen team.
High School: Thomson joined the NM State swimming and diving program after competing for the Las Cruces Aquatics Club. Thomson, who was home schooled, guided the club to the state championship in 2005 while she served as the team captain. Thomson came to NM State holding 29 club records and two New Mexico state records. In the senior division, Thomson set the Las Cruces Aquatics club record in the 500 free, 1,000 free and 1,650 free while setting the state records in the 200-free relay and 400-free relay.
Personal: Thomson was born in Indianapolis, Ind., and is the daughter of Lionel and Wendy Thomson. Her older sister, Maggie, is a former swimmer and her eldest sister, Grace, is a former runner for the Aggies. Thomson is pursuing a degree in clothing, textiles, and fashion merchandising.
