Biography

2011-12 (Senior): In her senior campaign, Palombit recorded a pair of top 20 showings at the 2012 WAC Championships. She finished in 12th place in the 50 free (23.73) and 18th place in the 100 breast (1:06.47), with season-best times, in her last conference meet. Palombit also had a season-best performance in the 100 free (52.80) at the WAC meet. In dual meet action, Palombit recorded two runner-up finishes in the 50 free against Northern Arizona (Dec. 3) and Idaho (Jan. 21). She was also a member of the victorious 200-medley relay versus Idaho and 400-free relay at the UNLV Winter Invitational (Dec. 17-19). Palombit was an Academic All-WAC honoree for the third consecutive season.

2010-11 (Junior): As a contributor in the sprint freestyle and breaststroke events, Palombit posted lifetime-best marks at the WAC Championships in the 50 free (23.72), 100 free (52.55) and 100 breast (1:06.27). She finished 17th in the 50 free, 24th in the 100 free and 20th in the 100 breast at the conference meet. Palombit was also a vital member of the Aggie relays. She swam the leadoff leg for the 200-free relay that finished in fifth at the WAC meet. In the season opener against Boise State/North Texas (Oct. 22), Palombit swam the third leg for the 200-free relay that captured second place. At Idaho (Nov. 6), she led off for the 200-free relay that took second place. Palombit helped the Aggie relays at the UNLV Invitational (Dec. 11-13) to a pair of second-place showings in the 400-free relay as the third leg and 200-medley relay as the anchor. At Northern Colorado (Jan. 21), she earned third place in the 100 free prior to swimming the second leg for the victorious 200-free relay in the first ever win at Colorado State (Jan. 22). Palombit ended the regular season on a high note and helped the Aggies to their fourth consecutive win over New Mexico (Feb. 5) with two runner-up finishes in the 50 free and 100 free. She also anchored the 200-free relay that collected top honors. For the second straight year, Palombit earned Academic All-WAC honors.

2009-10 (Sophomore): In her sophomore season, Palombit set season-best times in the 50 free (24.56), 100 free (54.02) and 100 breast (1:08.16) at the 2010 WAC Championships en route to the Aggies finishing in second place, which is a program-best showing. At the WAC Shoot-Out (Oct. 9), Palombit swam the third leg of the 200-free relay that finished fourth. She claimed seventh in the 50 free and anchored the fourth-place 200-medley relay at New Mexico/Wyoming (Nov. 14). In the home finale versus Idaho (Jan. 2), Palombit placed sixth in the 50 free and swam the second leg of the 200-medley relay that finished in fifth place. At Boise State (Jan. 30), she earned eighth in the 50 free and was the second leg for the third-place 200-free relay. Palombit was also successful in the classroom, and she was named to the Academic All-WAC team.

2008-09 (Freshman): Palombit made a significant impact in her debut season with the Aggies. She set lifetime-best times in the 100 fly (1:01.39), 50 free (23.99) and 100 free (52.91) at the WAC Championships helping NM State to a third-place finish. Her performance earned a pair of top 25 finishes in the 100 fly and 100 free at the conference meet. As primarily a freestyle specialist, Palombit consistently provided depth for the Aggies, and she won her first individual event in the 50 free and was a member of the victorious 400-free relay at Northern Colorado (Jan. 16). The following day at Colorado State (Jan. 17), Palombit was the leadoff for the runner-up 200-free relay. She also claimed third in the 50 free against New Mexico (Jan. 28). Palombit guided the Aggies to their second consecutive victory over the Lobos with a first-place showing in the 200-free relay (1:37.57). In her first collegiate meet, she swam the third leg of the 200-free relay that collected third place in the inaugural WAC Shoot-Out (Oct. 10-11). As the anchor of the 200-medley relay at San Diego (Dec. 13), Palombit scored with a third-place finish. Additionally, she was an Academic All-WAC Freshmen team honoree.

High School: A Lubbock, Texas native, Palombit joined the Aggies as a freestyle specialist. In 2008, she set the school record in the 100 free with a time of 53.8 at Coronado High School in Lubbock, Texas. Palombit also set the district record with a 24.46 performance in the 50 free. She earned honorable mention all-state honors for her performances in the 50 free and 200-free relay. Palombit was also part of the team that broke the school record in the 200-medley relay. As a senior, she was a member of the 200-free relay that recorded a second-place finish in the district and a third-place finish in the region.

Personal: Palombit is the daughter of Randy and Barbara Palombit, and she was born in Lubbock, Texas. She is majoring in journalism and mass communication. Palombit's younger sister, Victoria, was a member of the Aggies in 2011-12 as a freestyle specialist.
