Biography

2013-14 (JUNIOR): Legge continued to be a team leader on the Aggie squad as a breaststroke and Individual Medley (IM) specialist during her junior year.  She competed in every meet throughout the season, competing in five different individual events, the 100 breast, 100 fly, 200 breast, 200 IM and 400 IM, while also swimming in every form of relay, the 200-free, 200-medley, 400-free, 400-medley and 800-free relays.  She finished the season with six wins in three different events, including winning her third WAC title in two years after defending her crown in the 100 breast event at the WAC Championships (Feb. 26-Mar. 1) with an NCAA B Cut time of 1:01.78.

Legge would excel in the 100 breast throughout the season, picking up three wins and four runner-up finishes in nine competitions.  She would start the season by finishing second in both the 100 and 200 breast and in third place in the 200 IM against Air Force (Oct. 25).  Legge followed that up with second-place finishes in all three events versus Northern Colorado (Nov. 2) while also helping the 400-medley relay team to a victory.  Her first individual win came at the Phil Hansel Invitational in Houston (Nov. 23), a win in the 200 breast.  Legge also swam the 400 IM for the only time in the season in Houston, finishing in sixth place and logging a season-best time of 4:25.14 during the preliminary round.  She also helped NM State to a 200-medley relay win against Northern Arizona (Dec. 7).

January brought a new year but the same results for Legge.  She got her first win of the spring season versus Idaho (Jan. 18) after winning the 100 breast.  She then proceeded to win both the 100 and 200 breast against Grand Canyon (Jan. 25) while also finishing fifth in the 100 fly, the only time she would swim the event, with a time of 59.72.  The following week she won the 200 IM versus in-state rival New Mexico.  Legge finished the season strong at the WAC Championships, adding eighth-place finishes in both the 200 breast and 200 IM to her 100 breast championship while also helping the 200 and 400-medley relay teams to third-place finishes.  Her 1:01.78 winning time in the 100 breast was a season’s best as was her 2:16.02 preliminary time in the 200 breast and her 2:03.52 preliminary time in the 200 IM.  Legge had the fastest times of the season for NM State in both the 100 and 200 breast, was the second-fastest Aggie in the 200 and 400 IMs and was part of the fastest 200 and 400-medley relay teams of the season.  Showing that she also excels outside of the pool, she was named to the Academic All-WAC team for the third-consecutive year.

2012-13 (SOPHOMORE): In her second season in Las Cruces, Legge made significant contributions to the Aggie program and rewrote her name in the NM State record book. At the 2013 WAC Championships, Legge swept the breaststroke events and won the 100 breast (1:01.49) and 200 breast (2:12.37) with NCAA ‘B’ cut times. She was the first Aggie to win two individual titles at the WAC meet since 2009. Legge also broke her own school record in the 200 IM (2:02.06) en route a fifth-place finish. All three performances were lifetime-best times. In the season opener against Air Force (Oct. 13), Legge swept the 100 breast and 200 breast. She also won the 100 breast versus New Mexico, Colorado State and San Diego State in Albuquerque, N.M. (Nov. 2-3) and at Northern Arizona (Dec. 1). Legge won three individual events (100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM) in back-to-back dual meets at Idaho (Jan. 18) and versus UNM (Feb. 2). She earned WAC Swimmer of the Week honors (Jan. 22) for her performance at Idaho. This was her second career conference weekly honor. Legge also competed in many of the Aggie relays including the 200-free, 400-free, 800-free, 200-medley and 400-medley. Additionally, Legge earned Academic All-WAC honors.

2011-12 (FRESHMAN): Legge made an immediate impact for the Aggies in her freshman season. She scored in three individual events at the 2012 WAC Championships. Legge captured third place in the 100 breast (1:02.06) and 200 breast (2:15.47) at the conference meet with NCAA provisional times. She finished in eighth place in the 200 individual medley (2:05.26). Legge was also a member of the 200-medley (1:41.48) and 800-free (7:22.47) relays that set school records with NCAA ‘B’ cut times at the WAC meet. The 200-medley relay earned runner-up honors, while the 800-free relay collected fourth place. In her collegiate debut at TCU (Oct. 21), Legge won the 200 breast and 200 fly. The following day at North Texas (Oct. 22), she claimed top honors in the 100 breast. Legge won the 100 breast, 200 back and 400-medley relay in the Aggies’ home opener against Northern Colorado (Oct. 29). At the Houston Invitational (Nov. 17-19), Legge recorded three season-best times. She won the 400 IM (4:19.55), finished third in the 200 IM (2:03.03) and finished fourth in the 200 breast (2:14.94). Her 400 IM and 200 breast performances were also NCAA ‘B’ cut times. Legge helped the Aggies earn a dual meet victory over Northern Arizona (Dec. 3) with wins in the 200-free and 200-medley relays. In NM State’s second invitational of the season, the UNLV Winter Invitational (Dec. 17-19), Legge earned runner-up finishes in the 200 IM and 400 IM. Additionally, Legge captured runner-up accolades in the 200 IM against Arizona/Oregon State/Iowa/NAU in Tucson, Ariz. (Jan. 6). She also paced the Aggies in the breaststroke events with a fourth-place showing in the 100 breast and sixth-place finish in the 200 breast en route to earning WAC Swimmer of the Week honors for her efforts (Jan. 10). In the home finale versus Idaho (Jan. 21), Legge swept the breaststroke events and helped the 200-medley relay to victory. She concluded the regular season with a sweep of the breaststroke events for the second consecutive meet at New Mexico (Feb. 4). She also earned Academic All-WAC Freshman/Transfer team honors.
