Biography
2006-07 (Junior): In her third season with NMSU, Kaufman proved to be a team leader, both in and out of the pool. At the 2007 WAC Championships, Kaufman placed 18th in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:29.88. She was also an outstanding student as she was named to her second All-WAC Academic Team.
2005-06 (Sophomore): Kaufmann placed 15th in the 1,650 freestyle and 23rd in the 500 free at the WAC Championships. A strong student, Kaufmann was named to the WAC All-Academic Team.
2004-05 (Freshman): Kaufmann had one top 15 finish at the Sun Belt Conference Championships where she placed 14th in the 1,650 free with a time of 18:09.52. Kaufmann’s season best includes four top 10 finishes against Northern Arizona, where she placed second in the 400-meter freestyle (4:53.94), fourth in the 800-meter freestyle (10:03.64), and sixth in the 200-meter freestyle (2:20.10). Kaufmann was also a member of the winning 400-meter free relay (4:26.45). Her other top showing was against New Mexico, where she added a pair of top 5 finishes in the 1,000 freestyle (11:15.87) and 500 freestyle (5:33.96).
High School: Kaufmann is a graduate of Edward C. Reed High School in Sparks, Nev., where she was a four-time state finalist and letterwinner. She was named most valuable player twice and all-region three times in the 500 freestyle. Kaufmann made the Pacific Swimming Western Zone All-Star Team in 2003. In addition, she was a member of the National Honor Society and a four-time all-state academic team honoree.
Personal: Kaufmann was born in Reno, Nev., and is the daughter of Richard and Marjorie Kaufmann. Her brother Scott is an all-American swimmer at Florida. She is pursuing a degree in elementary education.
