Biography

2006-07 (Junior):  In her second season with the Aggies, Freeburn was poised to be one of the team leaders before an injury forced her to redshirt the year.  Freeburn, who was one of the team’s two captains, competed in just one meet as she led NMSU to a pair of victories at the Aggie Invitational.  She was named the WAC Swimmer of the Week for her efforts.  At the meet, Freeburn won both the 50-yard free and 100-yard free while her times in the events (24.03) and (52.06) ranked 10th and seventh, respectively, among WAC swimmers.

2005-06 (Sophomore):  Freeburn enjoyed a strong debut season with the Aggies, which she capped off with a pair of silver medals at the WAC Championships, capturing second in the 50 free (23.72 seconds) and the 100 free (51.29 seconds).  She also placed 11th in the 200 free and guided the 800-free relay (7:37.01) and the 200-free relay (1:36.28) to school records.  Against I-25 rival New Mexico, Jan. 28, Freeburn won both the 50 and 100 freestyles en route to earning Xbox Live WAC Swimmer of the Week.  A week earlier against Nevada and Houston, she placed second in the 50 free and third in the 100 free.  A strong student, Freeburn was named to the WAC All-Academic Team.

At Navy:  Freeburn transferred to NMSU after one season at the U.S. Naval Academy.  As a freshman, she was a first team All-Patriot League selection after leading Navy relays to a gold and three silver medals at the 2005 Patriot League Championships.   In addition, she earned the bronze medal in the 100 free.  Freeburn also took fourth place in the 50 free.

High School:  Freeburn is a graduate of Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach, Va.

Personal:  Freeburn was born in Portsmouth, Va., and is the daughter of Greg and Ann Freeburn. She is majoring in community health.
