Biography
2014-15 (JUNIOR): Soper has developed into one of the team best distance swimmers and had another very successful year for the Aggies.
During the UNLV Invite, Kenzie had a successful meet finishing fifth in the 500 free and eigth in the mile.
Soper also had great WAC Championship meet, swimming three personal best times in her individual events and scoring for the Aggies in each one. She finished 13th in the 500 with a time of 4:59.92, seventh in the mile with a time of 17:10.56, and came in 14th in the 200 back where she swam a prelim time of 2:04.93.
2013-14 (SOPHOMORE): Soper swam four freestyle events for NM State as a sophomore including the 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 free while also competing on the 400-free relay team. Her best event was the 500 free, which she swam in eight meets including the WAC Championships (Feb. 26-Mar. 1) where she finished in 12th place after posting a lifetime-best time of 4:59.97. Soper also finished in 16th place in the 1,650 free at the conference championships with a time of 17:33.21 while also marking a lifetime-best time of 1:56.54 in the 200 free. She also had a career-best time while at NM State in the 1,000 free after finishing third versus Grand Canyon (Jan. 25) with a time of 10:48.68. At the conclusion of the season Soper was named to the Academic All-WAC team.
2012-13 (FRESHMAN): In her freshman campaign, Soper contributed to the Aggies as she competed in eight individual events. She tallied a pair of top 16 finishes at the 2013 WAC Championships. She was 13th in the 1,650 free (17:15.93) and 16th in the 500 free (5:02.04) and both were season-best times. Soper also had season-best performances in the 100 back (59.23) and 200 back (2:07.29) at the WAC meet. She also participated in the 200-free relays for the Aggies. Soper earned Academic All-WAC Freshman/Transfer team honors.
HIGH SCHOOL: Soper, a Shawano, Wis., native, joined the Aggies after swimming for Paul Villez with the Shawano Community Swim Club as a distance free and backstroke specialist. Soper was a four-time Bay Conference Champion in the 500 free and three time champion in the 200 free en route to four state meet appearances. Soper’s best times were 10:20.06 in the 1,000 free, 58.63 in the 100 back and 2:05.09 in the 200 back.
PERSONAL: Soper was born in Green Bay, Wis., and is the daughter of Craig and Diana Martin. She is majoring in kinesiology.
