Biography
2008-09 (Junior): Cox only competed in the season opener, the inaugural WAC Shoot-Out (Oct. 10-11), before an injury derailed her junior season.
2007-08 (Sophomore): In her sophomore campaign, Cox competed in a variety of events for the Aggies. Cox swam in the distance freestyle, individual medley and butterfly events against Northern Colorado/Rice (Oct. 12-13) and at Northern Arizona/Idaho (Nov. 10) before she was sidelined with a season-ending injury.
2006-07 (Freshman): In her first season at NM State, Cox was a factor in the distance events for the Aggies as she competed in both the 1,000 free and 1,650 free events. In wins over Florida International/North Texas (Jan. 12), Cox recorded her best finish in the 1,000 free as she placed ninth with a time of 11:01.52. She also had a solid first showing at the WAC Championships with a 21st-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:53.89. In the 1,650 free, Cox placed 19th with a time of 18:39.00. She was named to the Academic All-WAC Freshmen team.
High School: Cox graduated from Sumner High School in Sumner, Wash., where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Spartans. She was named to the USA Swimming Scholastic All-America Team and was the team captain as a senior. Cox was a four-time state qualifier and holds the school record in the 100 fly, 500 free and 400-free relay. In addition, she was a member of the Sumner Honor Society, Honor Roll and the National Honor Society.
Personal: Cox was born in Puyallup, Wash., and is the daughter of Richard and Melanie Cox. She is majoring in finance.
