2013-14 (SENIOR): Kiss finished off her four-year swimming career at NM State with two third-place finishes at the 2014 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships. She finished in third during the 400 Individual Medley event with a finals’ time of 4:21.55, which was also the fastest time for any Aggie swimmer during the season for the event. Kiss holds the school’s record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:16.62, which she set in 2011. She also finished in third place during the 200 backstroke with a finals’ time of 1:59.15, the second-fastest time in the event for the NM State squad this season.
Kiss also had the fastest time of the season for the Aggies in the 200 Individual Medley, a time of 2:02.75, also during the WAC Championships. Her time in the 200 IM also eclipsed her personal lifetime-best in the event. Her time of 56.26 in the 100 backstroke during the conference tournament was second-fastest all year for NM State.
Kiss competed in a total of five events for the Aggies during the 2013-14 season including the 100 and 200 back, the 200 breast and the 200 and 400 Individual Medleys. She swam in every meet for NM State this season, swimming in at least three events in each meet.
During the Phil Hansel Invitational in Houston, Texas, Kiss swam in a season-high five events, including the 200 breast where she broke her personal lifetime-best record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:21.99. She made it through the preliminary round and into the final round in all five events. Kiss also earned Academic All-WAC honors for the third-straight year.
2012-13 (JUNIOR): In her junior campaign, Kiss was again a leader in the water for the Aggies. She recorded three sixth-places finishes at the 2013 WAC Championships in the 200 back (2:00.20), 200 IM (2:02.94) and 400 IM (4:21.24). Kiss set a lifetime-best time in 200 IM and season-best times in 200 back and 400 IM. In the season opener against Air Force (Oct. 13), Kiss won the 200 back and 400 IM. She captured top honors in the 100 back at Idaho (Jan. 18) and in the 200 back versus New Mexico (Feb. 2). Kiss was a member of the 200-free, 400-free, 800-free, 200-medley and 400-medley relays. She also earned Academic All-WAC honors.
2011-12 (SOPHOMORE): Kiss made significant contributions in the pool for the Aggies as a sophomore. At the 2012 WAC Championships, she swam a lifetime-best time in the 200 back (1:58.81), which broke her own school record and was a NCAA provisional performance. She finished in third place in the 200 back, for the second consecutive season, and the 400 IM (4:20.70) with a season-best time after trimming nearly seven seconds off of her time in the preliminaries. Kiss recorded season-best performances in the 100 back (56.74), 200 breast (2:23.80) and 200 IM (2:05.87) at the conference meet. She scored for the Aggies in the 100 back with an 11th-place finish. Against Northern Colorado (Oct. 29) in the home opener, Kiss won the 100 back and claimed second place in the 200 breast. She finished in third place in the 100 back and 200 back versus Northern Arizona (Dec. 3). In the regular season finale against Idaho (Jan. 21), Kiss was second in the 100 back and third in the 200 back. At in-state rival New Mexico (Feb. 4), Kiss won the 200 back and was third in the 100 back. She also routinely swam in the 200-medley and 400-medley relays for the Crimson and White. Additionally, Kiss was an Academic All-WAC honoree.
2010-11 (FRESHMAN): In her freshman campaign, Kiss made a considerable impact for the Aggies as a backstroke and IM specialist. She was named the WAC Freshman of the Year in 2011 and was the first Aggie to win the award. Kiss had a fantastic showing at the WAC Championships. She won the 400 IM (4:16.62), finished in third in the 200 back (2:00.05) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:03.06). Kiss also broke the school record in all three events including crushing the 400 IM record by nearly nine seconds. She swam the leadoff for the 400-medley relay that captured second place with a program-record performance (3:42.24). In dual meet action, Kiss had an early influence for the Aggies with top honors in the 200 back and 200 IM in the season opener against Boise State/North Texas (Oct. 22). She followed that with a second-place finish in the 400 IM on the second day of the meet against BSU/UNT (Oct. 23). In the first road meet at Washington State (Nov. 5), Kiss won the 200 back, finished second in the 100 back and third in the 400 IM. At Northern Arizona (Dec. 4), Kiss won the 200 IM and 200 back along with third place in the 100 back and 200-medley relay as the first leg. She ended the fall semester with a second-place showing in the 400 IM at the UNLV Invitational (Dec. 11-13). In the final road trip of the season, Kiss won the 200 IM and 200-medley relay as the leadoff leg at Northern Colorado (Jan. 21) and 400 IM at Colorado State (Jan. 22). She also finished third in the 100 back, 200 back and 400-medley relay as the first leg en route to helping the Aggies defeat the CSU for the first time in school history. Kiss ended the regular season with a pair of individual titles against in-state rival New Mexico (Feb. 5) in the 100 back and 200 IM and guided NM State to its fourth consecutive victory over the Lobos.
HIGH SCHOOL: Kiss arrived in Las Cruces from Walnut Cove Secondary School in Langley, Canada. She was a Senior National ‘B’ Finalist in two events in 2010. Kiss was also a Western Canadian Championship ‘A’ finalist in six events. In 2009, she was a senior national qualifier.
PERSONAL: Kiss was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Alan and Christine Kiss. She is majoring in anthropology.
