Biography
2011-12 (Freshman): As a freshman, Palombit competed in the sprint freestyle events for the Aggies. She helped NM State set a school record in the 400-free relay (3:23.63) with a runner-up finish and NCAA provisional time at the 2012 WAC Championships. Palombit also set individual best times at the conference meet in the 50 free (24.24), 100 free (52.47) and 200 free (1:52.20). She finished in 18th place in the 200 free and 20th place in the 100 free. Palombit helped the Aggies to wins in the 200-free relay against Arizona/Oregon State/Iowa/Northern Arizona (Jan. 6) in Tucson, Ariz., and 400-free relay versus NAU (Dec. 3).
High School: Palombit, a sprint freestyle specialist from Lubbock, Texas, swam for coach Trey Hayes and the Lubbock Swim Club. At Coronado High School, she set the school records in all events expect the 100 backstroke. Palombit was the regional champion in the 50 free and 100 free along with a sixth-place finish in the events at the state meet as a junior. In her senior season, she collected the regional title in the 50 free.
Personal: Palombit is the daughter of Randy and Barbara Palombit and was born in Lubbock, Texas. She hasn't declared a major. Palombit's older sister, Gina, was a four-year member (2009-12) of the Aggie swimming and diving team.
