Ros-Polly Nguyen enters her second season as a Graduate Assistant Coach at her alma mater after taking a year off after graduation.
In her first year, Nguyen helped the Aggies to their first-ever Western Athletic Conference regular-season title. She also helped coached senior Ashvarya Shrivastav to a WAC Player of the Year award as well as freshman Eli Arnaudova to second-team honors in single.
Nguyen was a four-year letter winner for NM State during her playing career (2010-2014), posting a 58-44 singles record and 48-57 doubles mark under head coach Ivan Fernandez.
The Saint Julien-En-Genevois, France, native brings extensive knowledge having played under Fernandez. Being a recent alumna, Nguyen’s insight on the current best-practices will be another invaluable tool for Fernandez. She also has extensive experience in international competitions, having played in Women’s Tennis Association and International Tennis Federation events.
During her collegiate career, Nguyen had a breakout sophomore campaign for NM State, posting a 20-11 record in singles play and 15-14 record in doubles. She finished with double-digit victories in both singles and doubles every year except for her junior season where she tallied six wins. Nguyen was named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team after going 11-9 in singles and 16-7 in her first year with the Aggies.
Nguyen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in international business in 2014 at New Mexico State and is currently pursuing her MBA at NM State while serving as the graduate assistant coach.
