Biography

Senior (2015-16): Fall: Went 5-6 in singles action and winless in doubles play in her final fall season at NM State…started the year with wins over Ashleigh Elward of Tarleton State 6-4, 6-2 and Duda Santos of UTEP 6-1, 6-1 and advanced to the finals of the Aggie Invitational…fell to No. 59 New Mexico’s Ludivine Burguiere in championship match…downed Carrie Casey of Sam Houston State 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in second match of Rice Invitational…picked up a pair of wins in the consolation bracket of the USTA/ITA Mountain Regional Championships with wins over Jessica Brycki of Montana State 6-3, 6-2 and Colorado’s Alexandra Aiello 6-3, 6-4.

Junior (2014-15): Went 17-18 her first season with the Aggies in singles action and 19-15 in doubles play…helped guide NM State to its first WAC regular-season and tournament title in program history as well as its first trip to the NCAA Tournament…opened her Aggie career with a pair of wins at the Aggie Invitational and went 6-7 in tournament play…picked up her first dual win at the Division I level over Shannon Beckett of Texas State, 6-4, 6-4…reeled off four-straight wins at the No. 5 and No. 4 position…picked up three wins in singles play during conference play against Chicago State (6-4, 6-4), Seattle (6-1, 6-3) and UT-Pan American (6-1, 6-2) – all at the No. 4 spot…won three-straight after starting the season with a loss at the Aggie Invitational in doubles play…sandwiched another loss with four-straight wins with Susana Alcaraz before falling in the round of 16 at the USTA/ITA Mountain Regional Championships to Nevada’s duo of Clarisse Treand and Sheila Morales-Hidalgo, 8-4…reeled off five-consecutive wins with Alcaraz until dropping their match, 6-1, to Stephen F. Austin’s Dany Quevedo and Malena Gordo.

Prior to NM State:  Played two seasons at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) in Overland Park, Kan...was one of the top-ranked junior-college tennis players during her stay at JCCC...was named the Jayhawk Conference Rookie of the Year in 2012 after going 15-5 in singles play and 9-4 in doubles action…was also the Region VI doubles’ champion with her partner at the No. 1 position…went 16-3 in singles and 17-1 in doubles in 2013 en route to becoming the Region VI champion in both singles (No. 2 slot) and doubles (No. 1 spot)...earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American recognition as a sophomore.

Personal: Is from Veracruz, Mexico, where she studied at the Colegio Mexico... daughter of Sergio Castillo and Emma Lopez Meneses...enjoys listening to music and will major in accounting.
