Biography
2018-19: Spring: Completed her senior campaign 14-19 overall in singles and 21-15 overall in doubles play – including a 4-1 mark in league play…helped lead NM State to its second WAC Championship title and second NCAA Tournament appearance…earned Second-Team All-WAC and WAC All-Tournament Team honors in doubles with teammate Lindsay Harlas...won five-straight matches from late February to March – including wins over UTSA (2/24) Montana State (3/20 and Wyoming (3/3)…bested New Mexico’s (4/12) Natasha Munday 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 5 position…took down UTEP’s (4/13) Yvette Van Oijen 6-2, 7-6. Fall: Went 3-8 in singles and 4-9 in doubles during the fall slate…reached the quarterfinals of the Aggie Invitational before falling to Harlas…also fell in the quarterfinals of doubles play in the same tournament, including a 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 win over UTEP’s doubles team…defeated Illinois State’s (10/27) Estelle Vanthier 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the UNM Halloween Howl…teamed up with Clara Rizea to defeat Colorado State’s tandem 6-4…bested Iowa State’s Caroline Gibbens 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 in the same tournament…also took down the Cylones’ doubles team with Neus Torregrosa 6-4.
2017-18: Spring: Finished her first season in the Crimson & White with a team-high 15-13 overall record in singles as well as a team-high 11-19 record in doubles… in dual play, Rubio went 11-9 in singles and 7-14 doubles...helped NM State win its home-opener over Weber State (1/20) with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Dominique Beauvais and teamed up with Lindsay Harlas for her first doubles win as an Aggie...followed up with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win against Ellie Millard from Northern Arizona (2/2)…defeated Wyoming’s Ana Tkachenko 7-6, 6-2…bested UT Arlington’s (3/4) Nanaka Takeuchi 6-3, 6-1...paired with Quinty Janssen for the 6-1 victory over GCU’s (3/25) No. 2 team…helped the Aggies defeat Battle of I-10 rival UTEP (4/14) with a 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) win over Maria Medina. Fall: Wrapped up the fall season 4-4 in singles and 4-5 in doubles action…defeated Oklahoma’s (10/1) Nina Jabrzewski 6-1, 6-3 at the CU Invitational…won her first two doubles matches at the CU Invitational, first with Vanessa Valdez against Colorado’s (9/28) team and then with Helena Colvee against UNM’s (9/29) team of Natasha Munday and Danielle Quevedo…took down NAU’s (10/27) Cora Ly Von Dungern in the opening day of the UNM Halloween Howl…bested UTEP’s (10/28) Milena Baigorria 6-1, 6-3 the following match.
2016-17 (Texas State): Sophomore season was cut short due to an injury…ended the fall ranked third on the team with five wins in singles play…picked up a pair of singles victories in the consolation bracket at the ITA Texas Regional Championships...finished the fall with three wins in doubles action…claimed an 8-6 victory over SMU’s doubles team at the ITA Regionals.
2015-16 (Texas State): Played in the top doubles position as a freshman, capturing six victories…finished her first year with six singles victories in dual play between time at the No. 3 and No. 4 slots…first collegiate doubles win came against South Alabama (2/5) while her first collegiate singles victory came against Northwestern State (2/20)…won both of her singles and doubles matches in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament against Arkansas State (4/21).
Before NM State: Ranked No. 1 in her state for four-straight years…listed among the top-five U21 national players in 2014…captured the state tournament in 2014 and 2015 after winning the sectional championships in 2014…finalist at the National G1 Tournament in singles in her hometown of Mexico City...finalist in the CPOA Showcase in 2014…runner-up in singles at the TIF Women’s Tournament in San Luis while doing the same at the Monterrey National Doubles Championships.
Personal: Daughter of Arturo Rubio and Ivania Ramirez...has a younger brother Juan Pablo...majoring in finance.
