Jake Crawford begins his first year with the New Mexico State strength and conditioning program as a coaching assistant. Crawford will assist the Director of Sports Performance Don Decker with football and other sports teams as assigned. Prior to NM State, Crawford spent time at Middle Tennessee working with the football program and assisting with the men’s basketball team. He helped train four players who signed NFL deals in 2014. Crawford graduated from Maryville College with a B.A. in physical education. He was also a member of the football team at Maryville, playing quarterback and on special teams. Crawford in engaged to Chesney Smith, who is a special education teacher. His father, David, is an offensive line coach at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tenn. Crawford is currently pursuing his certifications with the CSCCa and NSCA. He is also a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance coach.
