Brock Willis begins his second season with the NM State football program as the defensive graduate assistant, working with the defensive backs.
In 2012, Willis helped guide all-WAC selection Jeremy Harris, who was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 7th round of the 2013 NFL Draft. As a group, the defensive backs recorded 362 tackles and three of the team’s four interceptions on the season. He also coached all-WAC pick Davis Cazares, who led the Aggies and the WAC in tackles with 116.
Willis spent two seasons at Bethel University (Tenn.) as the safeties coach where he made an immediate impact in guiding back-to-back players to the first team All-Mid-South West Division honors.  In 2011, he coached Darian Jones to the honor, and in 2010 he coached Derrick Williams, the NAIA’s leader in interceptions per game.
Willis began his coaching career at Western Kentucky under current NM State defensive coordinator, David Elson, working as a student assistant primarily with the special teams from 2007 to 2009.
A native of Smyrna, Tenn., Willis played collegiately at Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2006, and transferred to WKU after a career-ending injury.  Willis received a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing education from Western Kentucky.
