Matthew Passwaters returns to his alma mater and begins his third year as an offensive graduate assistant for the Aggies in 2019.
Prior to his return to NM State, Passwaters was the tight ends coach at New Mexico Highlands for the 2016 campaign. Earlier in the year, the San Diego native was the offensive line coach at his alma mater Point Loma High School.
Before returning to his hometown, Passwaters served as the offensive line coach at Oñate High School from 2013-15. He got his first taste of coaching at Gadsden High School where he was the defensive and offensive lines coach in 2012.
Passwaters was an offensive lineman for the Aggies during the 2008-09 seasons after transferring in from San Diego Mesa College. While with the Olympians, he played both on the offensive line and as a tight end. During his sophomore season at SDMC, Passwaters helped block for a 1,000-yard rusher.
A graduate in 2015, Passwaters received his bachelor’s from New Mexico State University in communications studies.
