ORLANDO, Fla. – The NM State softball team is set to face Purdue on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. MT in its first game of the UCF Spring Fling at the UCF Softball Complex.
The Aggies are 20-10 this season after going 3-2 in the USF Under Armour Showcase last weekend. After falling to 3-2 to USC Upstate, NM State dropped a hard-fought, 5-4 eight inning decision to South Florida. The team bounced back to defeat Detroit Mercy 10-0 and East Carolina 7-3. The Aggies closed out the tournament on Sunday with a 7-5 come-from-behind victory over Maine.
NM State holds a 3-2 series lead against Purdue. The teams last squared off on Mar. 1, 1998 as the Aggies captured a 2-1 win over the Boilermakers. Purdue is 13-10 this season after falling 8-3 to Lehigh on Sunday.
The Aggies have a 2-0 overall record against Central Florida. NM State and the Knights last faced each other on Mar. 3, 2006 with the Aggies collecting a 1-0 victory. UCF is 19-9 and held a 15-game winning streak prior to facing Purdue on Saturday when the Knights fell 3-2 to the Boilermakers.
