LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The NM State softball team is set to face Rio Grande rival New Mexico on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at the NM State Softball Complex. This is the first meeting between the two programs in the 2016 season.
The game will be broadcast by AggieVision, with Adam Young doing play-by-play and Brian Cox doing color. It will also air live on FOX Sports Arizona+, FOX College Sports Atlantic, Comcast New Mexico, Altitude Sports 2 and ESPN3. The Aggies are 16-8 on the season after going 3-2 at the UNLV Classic in Las Vegas last weekend. The team kicked off the tournament with a 13-3 victory over Southern Utah and a 3-1 win over Drake. Saturday, NM State fell 5-3 to Florida Atlantic, but they bounced back to defeat Saint Mary's 12-4. Sunday, the Aggies fell to No. 7 Oregon in their final game of the weekend.
Following a series sweep of Northern Colorado, the Lobos hold an 11-7 record. New Mexico defeated Northern Colorado by scores of 7-3 and 8-3 in Saturday's double header and captured a 10-1 victory on Sunday.
New Mexico holds an 80-62 series record over the Aggies, but NM State has won four of the last five contests. The Aggies swept the Lobos last season with a 12-6 victory on Mar. 24 in Albuquerque and a 4-2 win on Apr. 14 in Las Cruces.
