SEATTLE – After winning the Western Athletic Conference regular season title, the No. 1 seeded NM State softball team will look to collect back-to-back WAC Tournament titles as well. The team will face the winner of the No. 4 Seattle U/ No. 5 Utah Valley game on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. MT on Logan Field at SU Park.
Utah Valley and Seattle U square off at 11:30 a.m. to determine who will face the Aggies. All games will be live streamed on the WAC Digital Network. Links for live streaming and live stats can be found on nmstatesports.com.
The Aggies compiled a 36-19 overall record and a 14-1 record during conference play. They outscored league opponents 110-32 and held the teams to a .210 batting average. NM State last faced Rio Grande rival New Mexico where they captured a 3-2, come-from-behind victory in eight innings.
NM State clinched the regular season title after winning games one and two of the series against UMKC. On April 30,
Karysta Donisthorpe garnered 10 strikeouts as the team collected a 5-4 victory over UMKC. The Aggies then secured the title with a 7-2 win. The team completed the series sweep with an 11-8 win to give head coach
Kathy Rodolph her 600th career victory.
NM State has a 13-0 record against Seattle U after sweeping the series April 1-2. McAdams threw a five-inning shutout as the Aggies amassed a 12-0 victory in the series opener. NM State then captured the series win with a 2-0 victory before defeating Seattle U 5-0 in the series finale. Seattle U is 17-31 overall and 3-12 in conference play after defeating Utah Valley in two games of the three-game series.
The Aggies hold a 13-2 record over Utah Valley after sweeping the series April 8-9.
Makayla McAdams threw a one-hit, five inning shutout in the series opener as NM State collected a 9-0 win. The Aggies then secured the series with an 11-1 victory before garnering a 4-2 win in the series finale. Utah Valley is 8-41 overall and 3-12 in conference play after splitting a double header against Portland State with a 21-6 victory and a 6-4 loss on May 4. UVU concluded conference play with a 2-1 series loss against Seattle U.
