Aggies Face First WAC Road Test Against CSU Bakersfield and Grand Canyon

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State volleyball will take their first Western Athletic Conference road trip of the season to CSU Bakersfield and Grand Canyon on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. First serve against the Roadrunners on Thursday is set for 8 p.m. MT and against Grand Canyon on 2 p.m. Saturday.
 
The matches will be broadcast live. Fans can watch both matches on the WAC Digital Network.
 
NM State opened WAC play last week in thrilling fashion as they took down both Seattle U and Utah Valley in five sets at home. Three Aggies notched double digit kills in the win against Seattle U, including junior Jordan Abalos with 21 kills. In the match against UVU, Abalos tied her career-high in kills (22) and sophomore Tatyana Battle set a new career-high in digs (16).
 
The Aggies hold an 8-2 record in the all-time series with CSUB. Last season, the Roadrunners only took one set from the Aggies in the two regular season meetings. NM State also swept the 'Runners in the championship match of the 2015 WAC Tournament in Kansas City, Mo.
 
In the all-time series against GCU, NM State leads 8-1. Last season, the Aggies took both matches against the Lopes in four sets.
 
So far this season, CSUB is paced by 2015 All-WAC selection Carol Grasso with 142 kills, averaging 3.64 per set. On defense, the 'Runners are led by Jocelyn Rodriguez and Katie Dunbar-Lowe, with 155 digs and 36 blocks, respectively.
 
GCU is led offensively by Natalie Tardy with 149 kills, averaging 3.24 per set. Defensively, the Lopes are paced by Emma Ahern and Hannah Hicks, who have 122 digs and 41 blocks, respectively.
