Aggies Set for Sun Belt Showdown in Lone Star State

NM State football heads to San Marcos, Texas to battle Sun Belt for Texas State this Saturday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. MT.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State football team travels to San Marcos, Texas to take on Sun Belt Conference opponent Texas State this Saturday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. MT.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Texas State enters Saturday's contest with an overall record of 2-6 and a 1-3 mark in the Sun Belt. The Bobcats most recently ended a six-game losing skid with a conference victory over Coastal Carolina, 27-7.

Through eight games, the Bobcats have been outscored 233-121 and outgained through the air and on the ground 3,012-2,636. Texas State's totals have seen them put up 1,133 rushing yards and 1,503 yards passing.

The Bobcat offense is led by senior quarterback Damian Williams who has passed for 1,186 yards and four touchdowns with an additional 120 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

On defense Texas State's inside linebacker Gabe Loyd is tied for the team lead with 51 total tackles. Loyd also has seven tackles for loss with 3.5 sacks. The senior has tallied three pass breakups and a pair of forced fumbles.

The Bobcat defense also excels on fourth down with a mark that is eighth best in the NCAA holding opponents to just a .286 conversion percentage.

NOTABLES: LAST GAME
- Malik Demby recorded his first career forced fumble last Saturday versus Arkansas State.
- Roy Lopez tallied his first career fumble recovery against the Red Wolves.
- Larry Rose III moved into a tie for third all-time in program history in rushing touchdowns (31).
- Billy Nipp recorded his first career sack in Saturday's game.
- O.J. Clark set a career-high in receiving yards (113) and long reception (55).
- The game against Arkansas State was the first time the Aggies have been outgained in yards passing this season (297-241).
- Dalton Herrington tied a career-high in tackles (16) which was set last season against Arkansas State (11/12/16).

AN NM STATE WIN WOULD…
- Mark the highest win total for NM State since 2011.
- Be the most wins for the Aggies under head coach Doug Martin in a single season.
-Extend the Aggies win streak over the Bobcats to three games.
- Give NM State a 3-2 series edge over SBC foe Texas State.

CHANGE THE RECORD
Entering week 10, NM State senior running back Larry Rose III and redshirt senior quarterback Tyler Rogers look to etch their names further into the program's record book. The two players sit in the top-5 for a combined 11 career offensive records for the Aggies.

Rose III already has his name second all-time for rushing yards (4,165) and third in carries (695), rushing touchdowns (31) and all-purpose yards (5,037). The running back also sits in sixth in scoring (204).

Rogers also looks to rewrite the record books as he is second all-time in passing yards (9,072), completions (817), attempts (1,336), passing touchdowns (62), total offense (9,659) and total touchdowns (74).
