EARLY BATTLE FOR LEAGUE TITLE ON THE HORIZON
When NM State and Utah Valley duke it out on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 4 p.m. on Lou Henson Court, the league regular-season title could be decided when the clock strikes zero in the second half. The Aggies and Utah Valley are both 4-0 in Western Athletic Conference play heading into the meeting. The Wolverines are15-5 overall on the year and have won eight-straight games, which ties it with Vermont and Wright State for the fourth-longest winning-streak in the nation through games on Jan. 18.

The Wolverines bested NM State last year in the Pan American Center and handed the Aggies their only loss at home while also snapping its 23-game home winning-streak with an 84-72 triumph. NM State holds the all-time series lead 6-2 and had won five-straight until it loss last year. The Aggies are 3-1 both away from the Pan Am and at the Pan Am.

Nationally UVU is ranked 19th in assists per game with 17.8 dimes while its 49.3-percent shooting as a team is good for 25th in the nation. Meanwhile, its 9.0 rebounding margin is seventh-best in the Division I. Offensively, Utah Valley's 12.7 scoring margin is 23rd nationally while its 355 assists is eighth-best. The Aggies will also have its hands full on the glass with UVU pulling down 800 boards so far on the year – which is good for 13th in the country.

Personnel wise, all five starters for the Wolverines are averaging in double-figures – including Jerrelle DeBerry, who has come off the bench for UVU in the last five contests. Akolda Manyang, an Oklahoma transfer, leads all scorers with 14.2 points per game while Kenneth Ogbe isn't far off with 13.9 points per game. Conner Toolson is next on that list, averaging 12.3 points while Jake Toolson posted an average of 12.0 points. Brandon Randolph rounds out the starters in double-figures with 11.4 points per game while DeBerry has averaged 10.6 points per game in his five games of action.

Randolph leads UVU with 4.9 assists per game, which is also good for second in the league. In addition to leading the Wolverines with 8.9 boards per game, Manyang's .640 shooting clip not only leads the league but is also 10th-best in the country.

LAST TIME OUT
The Aggies jumped out to a big 17-2 lead over Seattle U and kept the momentum going into halftime with a 37-22 lead. The Redhawks slowly chipped away at the Aggie lead and cut it to 49-46 before an offensive blitz by NM State quickly brought it back to a double-digit lead that it held on for the remainder of the game.

Jemerrio Jones recorded his 11th double-double of the year early in the second-half with 10 points and 11 rebounds on 5-of-7 shooting while three other players also reached double-figures – including a team-best 15 points from Zach Lofton.

UP NEXT
The trip home is short-lived as NM State hits the road again with a single game at UMKC on Saturday, Jan. 27 before returning home for a four-game homestand. The Aggies and Roos are slated to tip-off at 6 p.m. (MT) on the WAC Digital Network.
