KAPOLEI, Hawaii – Following a day one cancellation due to weather, the New Mexico State women's golf team completed the one-round winner-take-all on Wednesday at the Kapolei Golf Course. Over 18 holes, the Aggies shot a 288 (E) and finished in second place among 12 teams.
Individual play for NM State was led by
Pun Chanachai who fired a 71 (-1) and tied for sixth place. One stroke behind was
Dominique Galloway and
Maria Prado who each shot a 72 (E) to tie for 12
th. Prado led the squad in holes for par with 16, while Chanachai and Galloway tied for the team lead with three birdies.
Kehler Koss shot a 73 (+1) to tie for 17
th after the one-round tournament. Koss also shot a hole-in-one on the hole-five, par-3, the first of her career and only one of the tournament.
Tiegan Taylor then rounded out the Aggie starting lineup with a score of 80 (+8) to tie for 47
th.
At the end of the altered one-round Rainbow Wahine Invite, Florida International took home first place with a team score of 287 (-1), followed by NM State at 288 (E) and Nebraska completed the top-three firing a 289 (+1).
The New Mexico State women's golf team now takes a few months off and gets ready to open its spring schedule at the Mission Hills Invitational in Rancho Mirage, Calif. from Jan. 27-28.
